Is there an option to make MRTG simply add the In/Out values together? For example:

Max In / Avg. In / Current In
Max Out / Avg. Out / Current Out
Max Total / Avg. Total / Current Total

for data rate, kb/s or total transfer GB/day/month

3.2kbps monthly avg ~= 1GB . No need to add the two together, just take the higher of the values.
