Hi,

I installed a web hosting server (Windows 2003) with Plesk. Everything is working fine except, I have a domain name .com.mt. From the registrar's control panel I can only enter the DNS hostname and IP address. From my go daddy domain, I only edit the A record and update to point to my IP (80.77.198.199) and that's it. I always used shared hosting before. I will appreciate your help

You will either need to setup your own nameservers on your server or use your registrar's nameservers and point relevant records to your server IP.

Do you have DNS service installed on the server?
If yes, you can register nameservers with your domain provider pointing to your server ip, then manage your own dns.

every hosting should have it's own DNS server, you can ask this from your hosting provider. if you own a windows server 2003 dedicated server, you should have dns service installed on it. you can register nameservers with your domain provider pointing to your server ip or create a glue record then you can manage dns from windows dns mmc. otherwise, you can use free dns service like afraid dot org

And what is your domain name provider?

as per my knowledge, you need one dedicated IP address to make own DNS.

You need to bind your Nameserver IP to a hostname (auto updating if your ip is dynamic) and then put it in your GoDaddy to my knowledge.

Here is my suggestion:
Creat your own DNS servers with Plesk, and you know what to do with your DNS records.

Hello,

There is no need to install DNS server on your server even if it is a dedicated 2003 server with plesk , because plesk installs DNS server by default . Now you can create your own name servers such as ns1.yourdomainname.com and ns2.yourdomainname.com and point the A record of these name servers to the 2 IPS binded on your dedicated server . Thats it . Now you can use these 2 name servers (ns1.yourdomainname.com and ns2.yourdomainname.com) for all the domains you add from plesk .

Also some Registrars requires the IPs of 2 name servers in different subnets like co.za . domains
