Wondering if you guys have any previous encounters with press release results? Am wondering in general, not necisarily just web hosting related. Was wondering about how much a good press release submission would cost, and how well it has/can work out.

I've had some experience with press releases and they are a lot of work and the results are usually quite poor.

First of all, journalists are inundated by press releases and most of them wind up in the trash can without even being read. You have to have the journalist's attention before you send your press release. How do you catch his attention? By being useful. Find one or two or three journalists that you have access to and supply them with useful info about your industry. Write articles for the trade press and send the journalists copies.

When you finally have their attention, make sure you call them warning them to expect your press release.

Personally, I much rather spend my time on potential customers than on the press.
