View Full Version : How to proceed with this (?)

Hi

Ok, the way I see it, there are three steps to processing a client's hosting account order...

(1) They fill out an online form and provide their name, domain, address, phone number and other personal info.

(2) The customer is then automatically redirected to a payment form and the personal info shows up in your email.

(3) Using this info, you set their account up and send them a canned email with all the info they'll need

The only thing is, I use PayPal and thier forms are pretty much limited to purchasing with no options for all the other info I would need to collect. Secondly, I see no way to have clients fill out a personal info form and then automatically redirect them to the PayPal form. PayPal just does'nt work that way and Since I've been with them for many years without a single problem, I'm not really ready to switch over to another payment processing service. Sure, I could have the customer click on a link and fill out one form and then have them go to the PayPal form (manually) but this would be an awkward and clumsey way of doing it.

I'm also a bit confused about where I actually locate all the account info I'll need to provide them with at signup (ie; their IP, etc) but I'm assuming I just provide them with my primary name server address(?).

Anyway, I finally went with HTTPme and am very satisfied with what I see so far. I hope noone who I did'nt choose is offended by the fact that I did'nt choose them. It's a jungle out there and I just needed to decide who/what best suited my personal needs. A lot of other hosts had great plans too but HTTPme seems to be a pretty well recognized reseller and...well...the rest is history as they say:). Anyway thank's to all of you for the great help!

Ok, I think I know what I'm going to do now. I'll simply use PayPal's redirect "thank you" thingy to send customers to a secure page where they can provide the rest of the information I'll need to proces their accounts.

Have a look at http://Paysystems.com. We use them and you can customise the order form to collect whatever information you need. :) You get an email letting you know of the new order. You then setup their hosting account from the information they provided on the order form.

Paypal offers you each parameter in the redirect page ( after successful transaction. ) You can grab them & ask only for domain name in the redirected page (which is not included in the paypal form).

This should be the best way to minimize the customer inputs.

Thanks,

Our system takes all the information from the client on our site and emails us all the data before sending them to the right payment place (paypal/paysystems) with all the information already filled in for them (from our collected variables) works nicely ;)
