albatroz 08-26-2010, 01:14 PM Hi!
I just wanted to share you my recent experiences with this new product of Rsyncpalace.
In summary: It works :)
It is easy to use and works by itself so you can rest while it makes your backups. The only problem that it won´t backups with little free space, but it is not Rsyncs' fault.
BTW I am wondering if it will work with the new CPanel Windows product.

Very nice review, Great Job Backomatic :agree:
Regarding it working with cPanel Windows i acutally do not see why it wouldnt confirm with them though.

Greetings,
Dont quote me on this, but I am pretty sure the Windows (Encompass) wont work as rsync is a *nix tool. There may be other ways (FTP, SFTP)
Syslint 08-26-2010, 02:29 PM The chance to work with windows is very low , my vote go for "Kdisk"
Richard-BCS 08-26-2010, 02:45 PM Backomatic transfers backups via FTP as far as I know. I dont see why it shouldnt work on Enkompass unless they totally changed the backup system and API calls.

Thank you for your comments. We take each and single one of them seriously.
Regarding the support for Enkompass, we currently do not support it and do not have any plans right now to support it. Even though they may be designed to look similar, Enkompass is a completely different product from cPanel which uses a completely different API system (WCF) from their Linux counterpart - meaning that we'll have to create a new module in Backomatic CP if we do decide to provide support for it in the future.
Yours,
albatroz 08-26-2010, 04:11 PM I opened a thread regarding this issue on CPanel forum,
maybe we can follow and enrich this discussion there.

I remember a cPanel staff mentioning about how the whole UI for Enkompass is based on the API, so whatever you can do on the UI - you can do via API.
There doesn't seem to be any technical limitations for us implementing it, but it doesn't seem like there's a market for it.
What's on our to-do list is native support for DirectAdmin, and Plesk.
Thanks,
albatroz 08-26-2010, 04:33 PM Enkompass is still a young product with a market to fight for.
Maybe in some months, when you see some users adopting it, you can give this task some priority.
In my particular case I am planning to move my hosting customers from a Helm reseller to an Enkompass based one.

We'll be monitoring that part of the market. :agree: Seems kind of violatile when you look at the Linux hosting market in comparison.
