View Full Version : Stargate downs?
First it's Webjeff.com, the reseller of stargate,
clients cannot connect to their db.
Then today,
I found that I cannot access the website of Stargate.com ?
what's wrong with the company?
Are they going to close their business?
Synthetic 12-18-2002, 11:35 PM They're probably just experiencing difficulties with their network... I doubt that they've shut down.
Continuum 12-19-2002, 12:03 AM We are currently experiencing an outage due to a bad storm that has caused a major electrical outage in our area (Oak Brook, Illinois). The outage has caused all fiber network connections (multiple carriers) to our complex to go down. ComEd is working to restore power to the area, but we have no current ETA.
Sorry for the inconvenience.
Tom
P.S. The business health of webjeff.com (a reseller) is in no way connected to Stargate.
Wa, I don't even know Stargate has a representative here.
Gald to hear that they will be back soon.
I did love their domain control panel....
I can esily find and edit the things I want!
Keep going, I did need your service!
awhost 12-19-2002, 12:15 AM Could this be why I had strange problems with my domains earlier today? Your main site still worked then, but I get errors in DNS Panel and Name server panels of your system.
I run a hosting company, and has caused our main sites to be down, and e-mail doesnt work for anyone. I don't know why but peopes sites are still up. But when I do a report at dnsreport.com, it says that there are no NS records for our domain.
Domains are hostingmountain.com, and hostingmountain.net.

I think 3rd party DNS system is very important.
It shows again in this case.
esx2shank 12-19-2002, 04:04 AM Been a satisfied Stargate e-mail, web hosting customer for just over a year - but this is NOT a good thing.
How many customers have no idea of what has happened? Are we talking hours, days or weeks?
Any suggestions of what can be done to access e-mails?
it's a day now, and hopefully not a weekly thing.
:(
esx2shank 12-19-2002, 04:15 AM Strange - I received my last e-mails just before 4 pm PST today - less than a day for me...
Alex042 12-19-2002, 09:29 AM This is the 2nd time in the past few weeks one of StarGates providers has caused StarGate to lose service. I tried to buy some domains last night to find they were down so I ended up creating an account and buying them at GoDaddy. I lost a couple of features but gained a couple of others so I guess it was a toss-up. I notice GoDaddy is to be down today also, but it's a planned outage. With StarGates outtages, they occurred without notice resulting in loss of domain information access for an unspecified amount of time. I wouldn't know until the next day or so what had actually happened. Maybe it's a conspiracy against StarGate.
Fortunately, I was able to purchase a suite of domains before the cybersquatters got them. Unfortunately, cybersquatters had already bought up the .com's and .net's of these domains so I ended up with .org's, but at least I was able to get the entire suite. I guess cybersquatters haven't quite flooded the .org market like the .com's and now .net's.
Too bad, but stargate.com is down again now!
:(
What's the reason this time?

I liked that part :D
So just because you grabbed the .ORG's you wanted - which the "cybersquatters" haven't yet touched - you are not acting like one?
:stickout:
Acroplex 12-22-2002, 12:34 PM BTW I used Stargate.com's control panel for most of the day yesterday, with no problems. I am in Orlando, FL.
