View Full Version : Cpanel Server and Sub-Domain of a Sub-Domain

Does anyone know if this is possible?

Say, I have a domain hosted on one server (that's the easy part).

I have a sub-domain of it hosted on another server (still easy).

But now, I want to have a sub-domain of the sub-domain look like a sub-domain and not a sub-domain of a sub-domain.

For illustrative purposes, I'll use MYdomain.

I have Sub.MYdomain.com on a server.

I want to have AnotherSub.MYdomain.com on this server utilizing the same resources as Sub.MYdomain.com.

I don't want it to be like AnotherSub.Sub.MYdomain.com.

I have looked through Cpanel forums and searched my cobweb infested mind. I now look to the knowledgeable members of this forum for suggestions.

And, yes. I am open to "Forget it! Not happenin'! Are you insane?!" kinda replies. :)

I want to have AnotherSub.MYdomain.com on this server utilizing the same resources as Sub.MYdomain.com.

if [ AnotherSub.MYdomain.com == Sub.MYdomain.com ] ; then
you just need CNAME and ServerAlias
else
I maybe did not understand what you are trying to do

I just want AnotherSub.MYdomain.com to act the same way Sub.MYdomain.com using the same resources.

But, I want it to just be AnotherSub.MYdomain.com.

Not AnotherSub.Sub.MYdomain.com

Don't worry. I'm confused as well.

hmm,

you need to:
1.edit the zone(s)
2.edit the serveralias

as i do not fully understand what you are trying to do, that is the best i can come up with. however, please feel free to pm, email or IM me ( email: see sig, aim: rusko23 and msn: rusko23@hotmail.com ) - ill be glad to help you out.

cheers,
paul
