What would you recommend me to get for a PCI based NIC? It seems that my onboard NIC (I am using Micro Start MS 6315 815EMPro with Intel NIC onboard) is not recognized under Redhat 6/7. So, curretnly I am thingking of getting PCI based NIC, and somebody suggested me 3COM 3C905b-TX 10/100mbps. Any other suggestion? (must work under Redhat 6/7 flawlessly, i.e. recognized and configured automatically under RH 6/7).

BTW: if you know how to get the onboard NIC to work, please let me know also... :)

cheers,

Thanks Carlos...

Now, it has to be 3C905B, not only 3C905, right? But look here: http://www.scyld.com/pipermail/vortex-bug/1998-July/000035.html

Anyway, that was under Redhat 5.1...

Nobody knows about 3C980 series? (the 3C905 series seem to be too old generation already .... like more than 2 years? :D )

cheers,

Darn... look at the price! 10 times more expensive (for 10 times more speed) than its 100mbps cousin. But the think, why would I need it if my server is connected to 10 or 100 mbps switch port, which is usually is always the case? :D

gee... two of these GigE ethernet cards can buy a GigE switch (http://www.3com.com/products/en_US/detail.jsp?tab=features&pathtype=purchase&sku=3C16973)... I think it's overpriced.... :(
