Did you realise that Chiti*.com is not accessible anymore?

The homepage turned into a search engine, the forums
and the user control panel are gone! The website (mine),
e-mail and the whole ftp processes are still working, though.

Is there something bad (fraud) going on?

Does anyone have any contact details

of the tech guys from the Chiti* forums
(those out-of-Chiti* ones or even somebody from the management?)

or of other Chiti* customers

or do you know what's going on?

I hope someone can help with some clarifying information.

Cheers:angry:

:crap:NEWS: Other affected Chiti users gather in:

See you there!:crap:

sounds like they forgot to renew their domain name and lost it.

either that, or they have been hacked. but usually when someone hacks a page like this, the hacker has to let everyone know and so they leave a note on the page.

As you might have noticed chi-tie renamed the company to Hostgroup1 (who knows why?). In the process they left their customers with a crappy service down most of the time for a whole 2 months... without any prior notice of the changes that are going to be made so that maybe clients can have a temporary solution set up. Emails were also obviously lost due to the excessive time that the DNS did not resolve during this excessive downtime.

Support was never offered; the boasted online support was never available and if you were lucky to get a response through the trouble ticket system, it was a plain and simple answer that things should be ok now, which in fact they werent.

Webmail did not work for more than 3 months, and apparently it still is not working.

Due to these problems I had to change webhosting company so that no more damage is inflicted to my operations. However Hostgroup1 are refusing to refund me the remaining months I had subscribed with them that I was forced to abandon due to crappy service.

Hostgroup1 is what used to be c-h-i-t-i-e ... after 2 months of downtime without informing customers and with who knows what damage was inflicted to these clients, they're back with false promises and illusive cheap hosting rates.

During this excessive downtime, who knows how many emails were timed out and lost. If only they had sent a simple email to their customers of this 'maintenance' most could have found a temporary solution.

After I was forced to change to another more expensive webhost since I could not bear to have my site down any longer, I was denied a refund of the rest of the months I did not use of my subscription.

And by the way, Webmail is still not working after all these months.

I smell a chargeback coming on.

At least threaten to, they will most likely become real cooperative-like after you do.

hello, id just like to share my experience with ******.

back in may of 2002, i signed up with them for their 1.99 a month deal. all was fine until i made the mistake of hosting some mp3s on my space, that circulated to a few popular message boards, and in turn killed my bandwidth. they suspended my site, which was totally understandable, i waited a month thinking that it would be taken off of suspention. it wasnt.

so i went to goto ******'s site to try to get some help, and i found the site wasnt there, and directed back to the company they registered the domain with. i tried emailing the admin email that sent updates, the email that was on the placeholder for my suspended page (which turned out to not even exist), and then i finally went to register.com to get the email addy that registered the domain. i got no response from either.

i finally gave up, thinking i basically got screwed and that i really couldnt expect much from such a cheap host. fast forward to a hour ago, a good 6 plus months later, i get a email from the admin address at ****** informing that they werent offering chat support anymore. i found this funny since ****** hasnt existed for the last 6 months. but then i looked at the bottom of the email to find HOSTGROUP1.COM. i went to the URL, and low and behold, there was the exact ****** site, just with a new name. THEY NEVER INFORMED ME OF THIS CHANGE.

so i just sent a pretty pissed off message to the support area describing pretty much what i just did above. i told them at the end "what can i really expect from such a cheap service anyways. i would love to get another 6 months tacked onto my account, but i know that just isnt gonna happen" and then said they should at least re-activate my site so i can use it for the last 4 or 5 months that i paid for.

now im just waiting for a response. i dont really expect to get anything out of these guys other than a humorous response and excuse. whatever, just glad i got a chance to bitch about it to them and now to you guys to help let know this host is no good.

Well I have this ****** problem to, since the begining I was with them I had problems. After registration it took 3 weeks before I got online. (think CHEATy.com) would be better for them

I also found out that ******.com does not excist anymore, but they had changed to ******.net (right now the are not online anymore)

Because I own a biz, I need to have my site online, so I contacted godaddy (they register everything through them and right now I'm negociating with them to get my domain (cause at this time I can't even transfer my domain!!!!!

But to do that godaddy wants an id and signature of the administrator of ****** (as you know these are not easy to find)

I can't understand something like this can happen. If anybody know's where we can go for a claim please let this know.

I have lost a lot of money for my biz, cause I advertise in magazines with a link to my site. And I have lost a lot of time into that matter.

Hope we can do something against that
