![]() | View Full Version : Newbie need help in deciding interhost.co.uk or donhost.co.uk hostmaster2k 04-26-2001, 02:31 PM which one is better? -Edward- 04-26-2001, 03:48 PM Interhost have been around a few years .... Never used them or donhost though. But a lot of people seem to like donhost. cass 04-10-2005, 08:40 AM I have used interhost.co.uk for 6 years No probs! pitergreen 04-10-2005, 08:48 AM The best thing would be to search the forums and see what you come up with, then email both companies and see which one will suit you better. Turboz 04-12-2005, 06:50 AM Yuck (Donhost I mean). Donhost have their own control panel, their reselling packages suck (though I'll admit they will probably still be around when all our bargain reseller offer companys have gone bankrupt). Customer service was never their strong point when I was with them. Forget automatic account creation - the only automatic stuff that happens with donhost is that accounts vanish and get deleted (for no reason). I had one account hijacked by another user too. There is (or was when I was with them) no way to log into your clients accounts to check their files etc. The only way to do this was to request a list of passwords from donhost (all sent via un-secure email) and log into their accounts and download everything via ftp to check for illegal content etc. Their control panel does not even have a file manager (or didn't at the time) so you could not even look at your users files online. Then to top it all off they slagged off us resellers saying that we were not removing accounts that had illegal content - Donhost had given us no way to even check - apart from spending hours with an ftp client. Then when it suited them they decided to reduce our bandwidth by 30GB and still charge the same price for it. We were given very little notice of this either. Donhost sucked. This was 2 years ago. I don't know what they're like now. My advice would be to ask them for a trial of maybe 1 or 2 weeks. Let me put it to you the simple way: When your doing business you don't want your clients accounts disappearing suddenly with no reason given (which is hell to explain to your clients). You also don't want your reseller account deleted/suspended because you have no tools to check what your clients are doing. Donhost in effect had a very good way of blaming resellers for their mistakes. This should tell you something. -Turboz Turboz 04-12-2005, 07:00 AM Just taken a look at their unix reseller demo control panel. Stull sucks. Still no feil manager, still no suspend feature (You can simply change passwords and then change the index page manually via FTP - then when you re-enable the account you have to know the original password which you won't). Also 30Gb transfer per month for £39.99 - how can you make a profit at these prices?. When I was with them this didn't even include VAT which was added on top at 17.5%. Remember that you have to have a business plan that will work with these prices and make a profit for you to run this company and be able to afford to provide tech support around the clock. -Turboz jhold 08-25-2007, 06:30 AM I have used interhost.co.uk for 6 years No probs! You WOULD say that. You run your own hosting and domain business, so you have no need to use Interhost. You are also a friend of the owner of Interhost and do some work for him/the company. |
