please help

RyanK 12-16-2002, 01:49 PM Yes but you will need to ensure you switch your domains name servers to your new hosts DNS servers otherwise if you use an outside DNS service switch your domain(s) MX record to point to your new hosts mail server.
MYPLANETcc 12-16-2002, 01:56 PM Ok, so in english, i sign up for the new host, go in to enic.com (where i registered my domain and where i change my DNS) and change it to the new host, DNS, then create the pop3 account with the same email as i had before, and i will receive all of my new mail that i cant seem to get now?
RyanK 12-16-2002, 02:09 PM Exactly ... ;)
Andrax 12-16-2002, 04:07 PM Of course, any email that has been sent now and has been rejected wont be waiting for you when you get moved. But any FUTURE email should get to you. :)
Clove Net 12-16-2002, 04:30 PM it will if you copy over your inbox file.....
should be located in your /home/username/mail dir
elsmore1 12-16-2002, 06:46 PM Of course.. all of this advice stating that switching hosts will cause your email to work as it should assumes that the problem is with your current host and or the way they have your mail account configured. I didn't see enough information in the original post to determine if the problem was in fact caused somehow by your current host or not.
If you just want to get away from your current host, go ahead and do so, and then if you find that they were not the problem after all, you can always come back here, give a more detailed explanation of what the problem is, and someone could then tell you what the problem really was. Or.... maybe the problem is with your current host and switching to another host will solve your problems.
Good luck! :)

And how exactly would copying an empty inbox help him retrieve mail that has never been delivered?? The origional poster stated that he isnt getting ANY mail, so that sure doesnt sound like its sitting in his inbox to me.
gambitdis 12-16-2002, 07:44 PM Any mail that is currently being sent to you is getting lost. When you re-point your email to a new service, mail will start accumulating from the day that you switch. In other words, you probably want to switch as soon as possible :)

MYPLANETcc 12-17-2002, 05:19 PM I did switch hosts, i did get a small batch of mail, like one said i did lose everything that wasnt being received before, the thing was none of it was being rejected, i tested emailing myself from another email and it never came back but then again was never received, so it was kinda out in space somewhere, and didnt come back once i switched, so i probably lost the upwards of $2,000 in business because of my old host (way2host.com) which was formerly alxhost.com (in which i had no problems) they finally emailed be back after 3-4 days and told me te alxmail server had expired and i would have to reset up the mail on thier servers, which never explained why the new pages i uploaded to ftp werent posting either, ...all in all it was a huge pain in the ass and i am glad to be rid of them once and for all.
We are eagerly awaiting the grand opening of the website if anyone out there needs CD or DVD replication or posters and flyers please give us a call 800.399.DISC . or visit our website on the 23rd www.MYPLANET.cc
Thanks for all of your help!
