I am thinking of using Matts whois script.

If any of you are using it or know the script...could you give me some tips on the PRO's and CONS of the same.

If there are any known security issues, how can i overcome them ??

First off, as with all these nice scripts that have "utitlity value", put them in a password protected folder so world + dog cannot abuse them... (unless you want them to ;) )

I use the scripts in several applications, including in my custom order form to purchase a domain at order time. They work great, and I can't think of any cons other than having to modify the templates a bit so they would allow me to execute php commands in them.

Thank you, i am now using Matt's script...looks like a gr8 script.

BTW, which is the best ( easy to customise ) domain generation/suggestion tools ?? I prefer a php script.

Okay is it possible to customise the raw output which matt's whois script generates. he uses a PRE tag there !!??

Can you post an URL?

Do you want do to whois's or availability checks? Whois scripts have quite a bit of overhead :(

Actually, when a domain is searched, it shud first give its avaliability along with a link to whois output if the domain is not avaliable. If the domain is avaliable, it gives an option to register that avaliable domain. Okay thats how Matt's script works. i am okay that way.

My problem is :

In the whois output..when it is displayed on my site, it overrides all my design restrictions and streches beyond. can't i control that ??

I am also thinking about using Matts script. I currently run whm AP on my server, and I was wondering if anyone has customized it to so that when people check domain name availability, it takes them to the AP order page with the domain name "passed through". Thanks in advance!
