A few friends and I are creating a small 2d MMORPG, it won't be done for a couple more months... But I was wondering if there were any window ded servers out there for > $100/month... We wouldn't need much processing power or ram, about 100gigs of bandwidth at the most probably (To start out, we don't send the images, just the location of the player every 0.001 second.), we'd just need some one to host a small server program that we can connect to from A.) A client, and B.) A server manager program.

Anyone know where I can find something like this for cheap? I was going to use rackshack, but none of us know how to program linux compatiable programs :bawling:

I am looking for a w2k server myself but have not taken the plunge as yet but probably next year or so.

In any case, there are a couple of options here. You could take a look at the mid-range servers from ServerOutsource.com http://www.serveroutsource.net/products/dedicated/mid/AMD/index.htm . I believe the w2k license comes free with the set up. This is going for $99. They have a Celeron version going for $149.

Alternatively, if you can wait till Jan then there is Fastservers.net which would have that too for $138 http://www.fastservers.net/

Most hosts can provide windows dedicated server. you just have to ask, and provide them with your own license key, and they will load it for you. Some will also be quite happy to provide it to you for a charge be it monthly or a one time setup or both... my suggestion: see a host you like... ask them.

Cannot disagree with that but it would be nice if the host knows something about Windows Server Administration as it would be communicate with them.

I recommend you check out www.atwebhost.com, their price and something such as support, network, addon etc... are very good and free cpanel controller with Windows box.

I recommand theplanet https://www.theplanet.com/solutions/server.php they have fine offer. More than your $100 as their offer is for $149 but I think they are doing fine.
