Wasn't as quiet for me after getting sucker punched by a fellow CEO. lol

It's a good thing I had no idea he grabbed my wifes arm as hard as he did at the time or I'd probably be in jail right now. Her arm is pretty bruised up =(

I'd love to post the name with more details however I doubt WHT would like this. There were a ton of witnesses so I'm sure if you ask around someone will be able to tell you who with all the details.

I might even write a blog post on it if our lawyers don't persuade me otherwise.

You'd think that nerds would behave themselves better! Becky apparently got her behind grabbed blatently a few times at the cPanel party. No one was able to figure out who was behind it. Sounds like a few of the attendees need to read up on manners.

You should really pursue this especially if there are witnesses.

I've removed posts containing information regarding the identities of involved parties because they were not made public by those involved parties.

Brent chose not to disclose names in his post on this matter - let's respect that. If he chooses to make this matter more public, let that be his choice, and the conversation can ensue. If he chooses to handle it privately, that should be respected as well.

Again, let's reserve naming names strictly to those people who were directly involved in the incident. Anything less, no matter how reliable, is still second-hand. Thank you.

Wow Brent that seriously sucks that people cannot respect others when attending functions that are suppose to show the better side of the head honchos in this industry.

Sorry to hear about the altercation and I hope both you and your wife are recouping well.

I hope your wife recovers and doesn't have any long term physical or emotional affects from being verbally and physically accosted.

Glad you guys didn't get hurt either.

Very unfortunate - I hope this does not happen again the future.

What I think needs to be done is the people that did the grabbing and such be banned from hostingcon and be publicly posted to show what kind of scum they are.

It seems to be one of the few threads google as not cached to see the deleted posts. Oh well.

I wanted to post the resolution to this to clear the air up. Brent and I talked tonight and we have settled everything between us. Everyone was drinking this night, things are not very clear as to what started the incident and we do not know that the bruise came from anything specific. I want to extend an apology out to Brent, Jessica and the community for any offense caused by my inappropriate actions. This does not represent Brent, Jessica or my character in any way shape or form and it is vowed to never occur again as this is a completely isolated incident. This type of behavior is something I am morally against and find it to be offensive to the industry, clients and peers for which I personally apologize as well. Brent will be posting his followup to this as well.

It reflects poorly on your character while drinking. There is no excuses for actions such as this - I'd personally like to see you banned from future events as there should be a zero tolerance policy for things such as this.

I will give you credit for not only discussing this with Brent and posting publicly facing the firing squad to so speak. Regardless completely unacceptable on every level.

I agree, alcohol is no excuse for behavior such as this. If you knew you was going to get grabby while being drunk then you should have never consumed any alcohol to begin with.

I give you props for facing this publicly but, you are going to loose alot of respect on this board.

What happened is entirely inexcusable, but what Gary made was one mistake. His character is typically one of exemplary character, judgment and integrity. I've personally seen him go out of his way to help out people before, who were left helpless and in extremely poor positions. While I can't defend his judgment made that night, I can tell you that it's not usual for him.

As already stated any violation of personal space is inexcusable especially when the people involved represent the standard of their industry. Unfortunately this spilled over to effect not only the 2 principals involved but also an innocent person that happened to be a woman either directly or indirectly. Alcohol is no excuse for this type of behavior. It has to be realized that the incident also had an effect on this community as a whole in that it polarized some more than others on one side or another for or against the parties involved.

What is good is that Brent and Gary both have communicated and by Garys' account the matter is settled. If Brent posts a like response my personal opinion is that this thread should be closed and removed to allow all parties to heal.

What has to be remembered is that sometimes a single action can easily spill over to others and that action can easily cause harm to them that the principal parties never considered as a consequence at the time.

I wasn't present at the event (as probably many of the posters here weren't also) but I will say that I am personally distressed and appalled that something like this happened at HC. It will haunt yourselves and all of WHT for a very long time I am afraid.

Gary I accepted your apology on the phone and am ready to drop it but I'm not going to sit by while you make me out to look like a liar.

We know exactly where the bruise came from. What we don't know is what was going through you mind when it happened.

We also know exactly who hit who first.

I also think it's funny that apology didn't come until a few days later after this started getting around on wht.

If you wish to pursue this further in a public manner please continue and I'll post the full story on the hg blog. I'll even be more then happy to include your version of what happened word for word. I say we close the thread and move on with our lives.
