To Anyone:
Have you used Wimax (clearwire) to run a business phone (Google Voice) number, credit card merchant processing equipment (Terminal with IP) and wireless internet?

I would buy a Belkin N+ Wireless Router to connect my laptop (& POTS phone), Verifone VX570 (credit card trans.) and wimax modem to run a mobile and brick (physical store). Add in the future, web transactions and ship it business, a virtual terminal, and USB swipe devices (including mobile phone purchases).

Last year I fooled around with Vyke, voipbuster (& other sip to pstn providers) and Google voice (with Gizmo) connected for free using WiFi, however I could not get past the choppy dropped calls and, now in year 20TEN, expect 4G wimax to save the day.

A low monthly cost gateway, reliable IP and a quality (landline experience) phone. Will this be the case?

running a credit card machine over VoIP is always going to get you in trouble
VoIP was not built for fax/data transmissions, you can always give it a try but it won't be a reliable solution

Were you able to determine what details or detail/spec. caused the failure?
What did you do, go back to, to keep working?

Just a note: the card terminal is IP and will go to the router connected to Clearwire Wimax equipment.

the problem is packet loss
WiMAX being a wireless technology is very much prone to packet-loss, which is like poison for fax/t38 transmission
so if there is an 'ideal network' than fax will word reliably but real life networks are not ideal and ensuring minimal packet loss over wireless WAN is a difficult task
