Hey all,

Can anyone recommend a site which they've had personal experience with in buying RAM from, and been very satisfied with ship speed, cost, etc.?

I need PC2100 184-pin DDR memory, either 256MB or 512MB. I've been looking at crucial's RAM, I know thier RAM is top quality but I'm trying to shop around and find a bit lower cost alternative but same great performance if possible, since the RAM is coming out of my pocket :D

Thanks,
Dan

Crucial.com

I don't buy any other type, unless its higher level Samsungs of later batch numbers, and even than, I much prefer Crucial.

I'd use Crucial, but they don't support RDRam. So I buy all mine from ebay... it works for me.

Best place to purchase RAM?

The sheep auctions ....@local cattle yards :D

"Only ewe said the RAM" :stickout:

To be serious for a moment we buy ours from the local computer shop and or the computer swap meets. Do you people have computer swap meets in your part of the world.

http://www.tigerdirect.com has some good deals on memory. They are also fast at shipping items.

Do NOT go with TigerDirect. See more here: http://www.resellerratings.com/seller1983.html

Another vote goes to Crucial.com. You should wait a bit when X-mas rolls around, which is usually the time when they have memory specials. Also, NewEgg.com is a nice choice for buying memory or any other PC parts.

First off they don't sell it for half off, second OEM is not the same as retail. There is a reason for the price differences.

I don't think crucial is available in this country .. atleast I've never heard of it before.

It'd help if you started where you were. In the UK I think dabs is great. Where I am at the moment I nip round the corner to the shop.

BTW beware - I just bought some RAM then found out my MB only supports 512MB

I recently got memory from www.memorywizards.com and was pretty satisfied.

Thanks for that info Acronym BOY, however by the time one was to pay for shipping, import duties, GST and then cartage from the capital city to my town it would end up more than double the price.

When I said available in my country I was meaning available to buy direct from a wholesaler or retail shop or the computer swap meets. As I am a computer manufacturer/retail shop I have access to the wholesalers however the swap meets are gererally cheaper.

For those of you who are in the USA or want high quality RAM (especially for overclocking):

Mushkin (http://www.mushkin.com/) - The BMW of RAM

Crucial.com (http://www.crucial.com/) - High quality Micron RAM with a lifetime warranty and usually free shipping, don't forget to use a coupon (http://www.xpbargains.com/st_deals.php/Crucial_coupons.htm) to lower your overall costs.

Fry's B&M only available in select US states, TX, AZ, CA and OR.

NewEgg.com (http://www.newegg.com/) - great selection, good prices and fast shipping.

Or you could buy 256MB PC2100 DDR for $5.99 (http://forums.anandtech.com/messageview.cfm?catid=40&threadid=907533) after jumping through a few hoops. Upgraded my computer to 512MB (256x2) and it only cost me $11.98 not bad at all ;)
