I currently have a VPS with Joomla! installed and wanted to display a few hundred adult video content. Is there such services like youtube where you just upload your video and embed the link on your site or external player for adult content? I was looking at warphd but they don't allow uploading of adult content.
I really don't know how much visitors I will be pulling in, I could estimate maybe a few thousand a month. I'm thinking setting up another VPS that is adult content friendly is my only viable option here. If anyone can shed some light on this it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

One option is using multiple VPS's and creating a mini "CDN"

Have you considered getting a dedicated server and hosting your adult video files on the dedicated server and stream them on your website? And instead of getting another VPS, you could get a powerful dedicated server.

Most dedicated server providers will allow you to host adult content on the server as long as its legal.

VideoLAN is a good streaming server, do you already have experience with it? If not, I'd suggest getting a managed server or hiring someone who does.

Something else to consider is streaming solutions that take care of caching the videos and giving users the correct bitrate. Silicon Valley Web Hosting has something that does this http://www.svwh.net/ankeena.php, and you can use either FLV or mp4 video files (and then use the flash player).

Why not use a PHPMotion or ClipShare type video sharing script?

Maybe MegaUpload? As suggested something like Clip Bucket would be better then Joomla. :)

My suggestion would be a managed dedicated server where the provider will be able to install all of the ffmpeg mods needs to run the tube scripts. Preferrably a host in the adult market as well to understand the ongoing needs of high traffic and security associated with adult websites.

Appreciate all the replies. I actually do not have any experience with VideoLAN but want to fiddle with it on centos. I'm assuming the learning curve is quite steep as you suggested in getting a managed server. Also considering cachefly and limelight, anyone have any experience with them?

I have experience with LimeLight & EdgeCast but not CacheFly. LimeLight preformed better in Asia when I did my testing, but EdgeCast provided better download speeds within the US.

CDN's could be a great choice but also a little expensive.
We have looked at a few <<snipped>> but I found that a good hosting provider with good bandwidth providers is a better value. For the most part, content owners are not to worried about making sure Egypt and China has fast downloads since they can't always purchase the products, services, or subscriptions that adult companies want to offer.

If you are sending out a bunch of free videos in hopes they user will click end up on your blog then you may just want to get a decent VPS or Dedicated server. Just remember, there is no such thing as unlimited bandwidth when shopping. That is a whole different thread but go for a solution you can afford with a strong server to support your application.

As far as videos format ...

Try silverlight with a mix of mp4 (for i devices).
Silverlight has some really strong advantages over flash.

You could take advantage of a VPS in another continent if you would like to promote your site to more visitors that could enjoy the website at top speeds.
this including the idea of a CDN would be a nice idea to try and run.

but first of all, keep in mind adult hosting requires more bandwidth then normal tube sites ( from my experience ), and you should always consider this, if your site becomes popular a it could cripple even the biggest VPS plan out there, make sure you go with a provider that will allow you to expand swiftly in these cases.

I appreciate all the feedback, I've decided to go with amazon cloudfront. The pay as you go feature is awesome as I'm not quite sure how much bandwidth will be needed. Now I just need to figure out a way to secure the sessions. Thanks everyone!

amazon cloudfront could be a good solution.. just keep an eye on ..

1. Slow delivery speed ... they are known to have a lot of bandwidth but there will be some slow down.

2. Their terms of use.. although they do not mention adult materials they do have an Offensive Content clause. Some locations, states, and countries could have Amazon remove your content without notice.

With any choice, there are pros and cons.
It's a balace that is hard to sometimes figure out.
