I am starting a site that should get around 500+ unique hits a day and I am wondering with what advertising services I should sign up with if:

I put a banner on the page
If I would considder a pop-up on the entrypage

what kinda website or service do you provide ? note you need only tragetted traffic. cause not everyone like *ME* is in need of your service. :D

well I am talking about services like commisionjunction (www.cj.com). Its going to be a forum mainly about anime but about any other general discussion aswell, cars, food, news, music, movies etc.

If it's not just forums, try BURST! Media and Fastclick :). For BURST you need at least 5,000 hits per month. They're the most highly rated programs.

I would suggest against all pop-ups/pop-unders, they kill traffic and of course there are ad busters. Unfortunatley the CPM (cost per 1000 impressions) industry is in the dumps and getting worse. Fastclick.com is the only place I know of that has any kind of real payout, and even they usually display default non-paying ads. You're better off finding specific companies to advertise on your site, that's what I do and I make 10x as much off a single banner as I would off Fastclick or any other "general" advertising firm. And it's all CPM-based, no CPC (but that is of course an added bonus). Best of luck.
