There are a ton better then those listed.

I would take any neutral fiber facility over those. For a more of a managed service. Even for reselling companies I think there week.

I might use St3.com for high bandwith or streaming accounts.

Aperian would be better then them for more managed services.

i think RACKSPACE

You will hardly hardly find a post on this board about a user having problems with their connectivity.

Vdi, alabanza, verio all have had problems from time to time also visible from posts.

I have been with Rs Since sept 2000 and it is Rock solid as ever. have just 2 systems there though.

I have yet to find an unsatisfied RS customer (Besides their costs ofcourse)

i am not recommending any of these, but these should also go into your poll:

Abovenet, HE, Verio, UUNet, Exodus, Globix, Aperian, Switch&Data, Colo.com, Yipes ... and wow many others which would make Alabanza, VDI, and NAC.net look small :)

Anyway.... I voted "none of the above" :)

cheers,

Although I don't think they make Alabanza looks small, let's not forget DialtoneInternet. I also have had excellent luck with Datapipe.com.

http://cybercon.com

They are fast on both sides of the US and I have been quite happy with their support

ill have to second rackspace as the best, i get a 15ms ping to them...

Since when does ping time mean the best NOC?

jw

It means the most diverse connectivity...more available routes to pick the fastest from...

I'm not quite sure how you're equating fast pings with "most diverse connectivity". Using your logic, ***** would be a better NOC for me than rackspace since I get 95-100ms to rackspace and 88 to *****.

ummm ***** has great connectivity...its everything else that makes them bad.

But pings don't mean anything it doesnt really matter about 10ms or 8 ms . and it doesn't matter 100ms or 80 ms

Ditto on *****---- they are faster getting to them.
and if you do a tracert to ***** they are only one jump away of being the fewest from most of my customer base. BUT BUT BUT

Exactly my point. I was using your logic, though, regarding ping times. Pings don't mean anything compared to the requirement of clued people in the NOC and good support people for other functions. Recommending a particular NOC like rackspace based solely on ping times is negating the value of all the other factors that go into choosing a good home.

BTW is there a board exclusive for NOCs? I know there are some hosts here that have their own NOC but it would be interesting to see what's going on with NOCs when they are talking among themselves. :cartman:

So how important is the ping response time? I'm pretty satisfied with my current host but get 80ms (server on West coast) compared to 15ms at a host in New Jersey. I'm in New York. Is it worth changing the host? Thanks for any feedback.
