I would take any neutral fiber facility over those. For a more of a managed service. Even for reselling companies I think there week. I might use St3.com for high bandwith or streaming accounts. Aperian would be better then them for more managed services. Joe mpkapadia 04-25-2001, 02:21 PM i think RACKSPACE You will hardly hardly find a post on this board about a user having problems with their connectivity. Vdi, alabanza, verio all have had problems from time to time also visible from posts. I have been with Rs Since sept 2000 and it is Rock solid as ever. have just 2 systems there though. I have yet to find an unsatisfied RS customer (Besides their costs ofcourse) Regards Manish Kapadia JapAniManga.ch 04-25-2001, 02:51 PM Originally posted by Zach Give me your opinions. :) Zach What is with Above.net - very good Connections to Europe and Japan ! I used them trough Pogolinux.com-Server and was very very Happy with the Speed. dektong 04-25-2001, 03:34 PM Only 3 NOC's? Come on... you know better than that :( cheers, Zach 04-25-2001, 03:35 PM Post ones you recommend if they arnt listed.! :) Zach dektong 04-25-2001, 03:50 PM Originally posted by Zach Post ones you recommend if they arnt listed.! :) Zach i am not recommending any of these, but these should also go into your poll: Abovenet, HE, Verio, UUNet, Exodus, Globix, Aperian, Switch&Data, Colo.com, Yipes ... and wow many others which would make Alabanza, VDI, and NAC.net look small :) Anyway.... I voted "none of the above" :) cheers, Red Circle Web Hosting 04-25-2001, 05:09 PM Weinbar also!;) JBIZ718 04-25-2001, 05:30 PM I didnt know weinbar had there own NOC. Last time they were at Aperian. Joe SI-Chris 04-25-2001, 06:39 PM Originally posted by dektong ... I also have had excellent luck with Datapipe.com. Alareach 04-27-2001, 06:25 PM http://cybercon.com They are fast on both sides of the US and I have been quite happy with their support jw 04-27-2001, 09:01 PM ill have to second rackspace as the best, i get a 15ms ping to them... MSW 04-27-2001, 09:50 PM Since when does ping time mean the best NOC? jw 04-27-2001, 09:51 PM It means the most diverse connectivity...more available routes to pick the fastest from... Annette 04-27-2001, 09:57 PM I'm not quite sure how you're equating fast pings with "most diverse connectivity". Using your logic, ***** would be a better NOC for me than rackspace since I get 95-100ms to rackspace and 88 to *****. jw 04-27-2001, 10:06 PM ummm ***** has great connectivity...its everything else that makes them bad. jayglate 04-27-2001, 10:07 PM But pings don't mean anything it doesnt really matter about 10ms or 8 ms . and it doesn't matter 100ms or 80 ms Lazy B 04-27-2001, 10:16 PM Ditto on *****---- they are faster getting to them. and if you do a tracert to ***** they are only one jump away of being the fewest from most of my customer base. BUT BUT BUT Annette 04-27-2001, 10:21 PM Originally posted by jw ummm ***** has great connectivity...its everything else that makes them bad. Exactly my point. I was using your logic, though, regarding ping times. Pings don't mean anything compared to the requirement of clued people in the NOC and good support people for other functions. Recommending a particular NOC like rackspace based solely on ping times is negating the value of all the other factors that go into choosing a good home. Jag 04-27-2001, 10:38 PM DI edude 04-27-2001, 11:42 PM hehe knew jag was going to say DI :stickout i second that as well :) Go dialtoneinternet! Mivo 04-28-2001, 12:25 AM For stability and redundancy, DI. Mivo 04-28-2001, 12:33 AM BTW is there a board exclusive for NOCs? I know there are some hosts here that have their own NOC but it would be interesting to see what's going on with NOCs when they are talking among themselves. :cartman: appenzell 05-03-2001, 01:02 AM So how important is the ping response time? I'm pretty satisfied with my current host but get 80ms (server on West coast) compared to 15ms at a host in New Jersey. I'm in New York. Is it worth changing the host? Thanks for any feedback. |
