Hi,

I am currently running a soccer related website which can be said to be very static and boring! My visitors have requested us to be more interactive thus I may need some help here.

Basically, they want to have a contest between themselves to see how good they are in predicting which team will win.

Here are the brief details :

First, they will have to register with my website and obtain a user id. Upon activating their account, they will have receive a sum of virtual money whereby they can place 'bets' on the teams they want. Of course, I would need to have an admin panel to put up the matches that are available for betting, the odds, and the outcome of their bets. They would also like to see a ranking system based on their virtual money. In addition, the public should be able to see all the matches that they have played previously.

All these are too complicated to my simple brain, and I would really like some help here! I don't mind paying some money for this script but I am tight on budget as this is only for interest sake. Please don't ask me how much I can afford as I really have no idea how complicated this script is going to be and how much is the value. If you need an example of how does this script is going to work, please pm me and I can point you to a sample site. Thanks!

That is an extremely large job so I would have to ask what you were willing to pay for it , and if its just for "interests" sake i'd say forget it.. And also , what sort of time frame would it need to be completed in?

That sounds like a nice method to run a bet booking system - illegal in the US, for anyone that cares.

Its illegal if its involving real money. But we are only using Virtual Money as a game :D There will be no money transactions involved :D

Thats not VERY large but it is a pretty large job. The admin panel is the only thing that may be difficult. I could PROBABLY do it in one week if I have a MySQL database to work with. So basically this is what you want?

- Users can sign up for an account, activate it via email, receive $X virtual money, then use that money to bet on what you specify
- An admin panel where you login to and add new matches with their odds. After you get the results you update it specifying the winner then users who bet on it would get some money based on how much they bet and the original odds
-Users are on a ranking system based on how much $ they have

So is this basically it?

Yes that is basically it.

Hi!
Are you still in need of an individual to develop the proposed project? If so, I would be interested in discussing the project with you. If you are still looking for a developer, what email address should I contact you at?

Thank you for your time. I look forward to your response.
Sincerely,

Robert Shedd

you may be able to fund this project by sending out weekly or monthly "newsletters/leader board" e-mail to all of the members and then going to one of the online casinos and telling them of this and once you have 200+ members they may purchase adspace in your newsletters. it's a very targeted audience. just a thought.

or you could ask for donations (through paypal) towards getting that running. if the members want it bad enough they will give donations. and if you set a price with someone here you can have a countdown like $2500-<donations>=<money needed>.
