View Full Version : Cheapest way to get WHMCS
mazedk 07-05-2010, 02:32 PM Hey guys
Im in the process of starting some reselling of a backup product on the side of my dayjob.. I have been looking for a system to handle licenses, payments and support. WHMCS seems like a very nice way to go but it does seem quite expensive to acquire or buy as a hosted service... As money will be limited at least in the beginning.. What is the cheapest way to get a WHMCS system running?
What are the alternatives to WHMCS in your opinion - if any?
CyberHostPro 07-05-2010, 02:34 PM www.licensepal.com is a low cost budget reseller.
VN-Ken 07-05-2010, 02:52 PM www.licensepal.com is a low cost budget reseller.
+1 for LicensePal. We also use them.
yourwebhostereu 07-05-2010, 02:54 PM I agree licensepal is the cheapest one:)
There are cheaper/free ways to get WHMCS, but it will always get you in trouble;)
PCS-Chris 07-05-2010, 02:54 PM As far as I'm aware Licensepal are as about as cheap as you can get for WHMCS licenses.
You could always invest early in an owned license then you dont need to worry about any recurring costs going forward.

you can give a test try to clientExec
MikeTrike 07-05-2010, 03:01 PM Licensepal, also go for WHMCS, I own WHMCS and CE, CE is not as good IMO.
mazedk 07-05-2010, 03:16 PM Hey guys.
Thanks a lot for the responses - this was somewhat as anticipated in regards to WHMCS.
Am I correct when I get the idea that WHMCS needs a vps or dedi to run on? - or at least a host with shell access to execute in order to install?
CloudWeb 07-05-2010, 03:25 PM WHMCS does not require a VPS or Dedicated server. It can run just fine on a shared plan.

That is not correct. You can install WHMCS on shared environment as well. There is no need for shell access to execute any installation.

That's incorrect, you execute the commands using a remote access key, I can see why you might think that though. :)
Yes - from my knowledge licensepal.com is the cheapest place to get a license from.
mazedk 07-05-2010, 03:34 PM Ah, very nice.
So In theory I would be able to run it on my one.com domain - if they support what is needed..

Yes, that is correct. WHMCS will run almost on every hosting service, since it does not require anything special except for PHP, MySQL, and Cron Job.
coduk 07-05-2010, 07:49 PM Licensepal is the cheapest external provider. You can get it for as low as $7 internally. But if you aren't with a host offering that, then licensepal is your best choice.
M Bacon 07-05-2010, 08:09 PM WHMCS requires Curl and Ioncube which you can download from whmcs.com if your host does not have ioncube already installed.

You can use clientexec for low cost budget monthly, we use both of them before, but I think WHMCS is more feature than CE.
GravityNets 07-06-2010, 02:30 AM Another +1 for LicensePal.
yes licensepal.com is the cheapest available reseller
bvsonline 07-07-2010, 12:03 PM LicensePal is really the cheapest for many of the licenses including WHMCS.
websplash 07-08-2010, 07:24 PM LicensePal is really the cheapest for many of the licenses including WHMCS.
+1 to LicensePal - I don't think you will find much cheaper as I think they would be close to WHMCS's largest reseller.
