Question from a newbie...

I registered a domain name with a registrar..and checked the availability of it at other registrars- they all said it's taken. However, when i do a "Whois" on the same domain name, it's say that there's no record of the domain name. Why?

I just registered the name this morning, and checked this tonight. Does it need more time to propagate the domain name information in the "whois" database?

How does this work? The name is registered instantly, but the information (name, contact info, registrar, etc.) is not in there?

Probably because the whois servers for the registrars haven't updated yet...check it at enom, they tend to update often. Some places (like GoDaddy) might take overnight...

It seems enom updates the changes instantly when you modify the contacts or DNS info. at their web site..
