Recently I've had a number of conversations with fellow web hosts about anti virus software on web servers.

I'm curious what most people use. I've tried most of them myself and found that the ones you'd expect to be great to cause more problems than solve (Norton, McAfee etc).

I know there is a number of people using AVG as it seems to run quite effectively on a webserver without sucking up resources, or, like one or two of its competitors, crashes a busier web server.

There are a few I haven't tried, so would love to hear what your experiences has been with these.

Any good admin our good user...

Knows

Mcafee is the leader and the best....for many reasons...

1 MCafee is light for your server *norton is way too heavy*
2 Mcafee has the same quality if is not better than norton
3 Does not come it many stupid things like norton
4 Comes it Mcafee ( firewall , VirusScan )

Good luck, but i guess if you asked this you realy goin to need GOOD LUCK

When I tested Mcafee it didn't do as well as AVG resource wise. You are right though, it is better than Norton in the tests we made.

I've heard a couple of good things about F-Prot which i've never tried yet. Its supposively faster than AVG. Has anyone else used this on a webserver?
