While restoring backups on plesk, we can selectively choose the items that needs to be restored and this includes mail. However, this is possible only from a backup created using the plesk control panel. If you've created backups in a single directory, it is not going to be easy, assuming you are trying to do a server to server migration? I would suggest you to backup up the entire account using plesk and restore using the same tools to prevent breaking up the internal directory structure.

If the Plesk versions are the same on old and new servers just ask your web host to restore the mail. Any decent tech will be able to do this.

I think you should contact to Plesk for this issue.

Hello Chetantech,

Its very easy . Just create the email accounts on the new server and from the postoffices folder under plesk installation D:\Parallels\Plesk\Mail Servers\Mail Enable\Postoffices copy the domainname from the old server as it is and paste it on the new server in the same path . Thats it , you have restored the emails .

You may have to run teh following after copying teh files over

cd %plesk_bin%
mchk.exe --domain --domain-name= domain.com

this we reconfigure the mail accounts and make it compatible with plesk database.

Hello,

Actually there is no need to run mchk.exe . Your mails will be restored successfully . As we have migrated thousands of domains email . :agree:

You should not have mentioned what type of backup you have but we assume that you simply copied the Postoffice folder of your domain, then you can simply paste the folder completely over the respective folder under plesk\Postoffices. If you encounter a problem after that try running plesk reconfigurator and make sure you selected Plesk file and folders and when you run, reconfigurator will assign the necessary permissons to the folder if needed.
