Given the security holes in 6.2, I'm a little hesitant to order new servers running it, but I would like to be able to offer the control panel. I'd ask our sales rep, but he has been spotty, at best, when it comes to returning phone calls, etc. MSW 04-24-2001, 11:08 AM I have heard by the summer, but one of the good things that Ensim has done is applied the security patches and closed up all the ports for a default 6.2 install. geekwannabe 04-24-2001, 02:03 PM Originally posted by uuallan I'd ask our sales rep, but he has been spotty, at best, when it comes to returning phone calls, etc. Ensim has recently downsized its salesforce from about 30 reps to about 6. This could explain why the response rate has been affected. ensim-matt 04-24-2001, 02:27 PM Originally posted by geekwannabe Ensim has recently downsized its salesforce from about 30 reps to about 6. This quote is from someone that considers themselves a competitor of Ensim. The real reason of the slow response time is the huge overwhelming demand for our product. WEBppliance LS represents a new product for Ensim and we only have 6 people dedicated to this sales effort. Please feel free to email me with your phone number and I will answer all your technical questions and/or get you to someone that can. I would talk more about the product but the Moderator would end up removing the post for self promotion. :( Seer 04-24-2001, 02:32 PM There is an advertising forum. Iwouldn't mind hearing some more about it there. :) geekwannabe 04-24-2001, 02:51 PM Originally posted by ensim-matt Hello, First off I would like to say that the quote above is not true. He worked for Ken Phillip and he now works for me. Quit while you're ahead. blablabla 04-24-2001, 03:22 PM Originally posted by geekwannabe I hate being called a liar. You have inside information about a company from a disgruntled x-employee. Yea! That’s reliable! So what's the point? So what? That just means that Ensim, like most technology companies are being fiscally responsible during these hard times! I don't think posting negative information in a public forum about your competition is a wise thing to do, no matter how accurate it is. It makes you look desperate 'geekwannabe'. geekwannabe 04-24-2001, 03:41 PM Originally posted by blablabla WOW! You have inside information about a company from a disgruntled x-employee. Yea! Obviously, based upon your post my information is accurate. Fiscally responsible is another way of saying someone lost their job. Who is more reliable? Someone who posts anonymously and has a profile that reads like a secret agent or someone like myself who backs up his position with verifiable facts. I wasn't responding to you in any event. If you have followed the original post, UUallan had asked why he was getting a slow response from his salesrep. I simply supplied an answer to his question which would explain the situation. The fiscally responsible changes have occurred within the last two months and that would account for any changes in the current rate of response. The employee in question is not disgruntled. He actually speaks very highly of Ensim and would still be working there if things had not changed. He was the rep who sold OLM.net their Ensim system. You keep attacking, I will keep winning. ensim-matt 04-24-2001, 03:56 PM Originally posted by ensim-matt Please feel free to email me with your phone number and I will answer all your technical questions and/or get you to someone that can. My offer still stands. cahostnet. If you need questions answered please email me or post them here. The rules state: "3. You are allowed to post replies if people ask questions but you must answer the question and not just provide a URL,e-mail,telephone to your web site or reference your own company at all. " Originally posted by WeinBar I have heard by the summer, but one of the good things that Ensim has done is applied the security patches and closed up all the ports for a default 6.2 install. Weinbar is correct. We made best effort to provide a secure environment. However, server security is only as good as the effort put into it by the server admin. I still suggest making sure that you have all Red Hat Errata installed and shutting down services that are not required. Let me know and I will email you our Server Security White Paper. cahostnet 04-25-2001, 11:20 AM When are you planning on supporting 7.x and are you also planning on developing the product to run under other Linux OS like Debian? Thanks... We are planning Red Hat 7.1 support due possibly in Q3. However, our plans currently are to only support Red Hat Linux OS. |
