Um. Roundtrip from where to where? I hope that isn't for a round trip of your network. ;)

Not bad got about 60 to 70 from here in FL. Thats about what we get on out UUnet lines not bad. We have had all kinds of problems with UUnet down at least once a week. Our Verio lines are slow in ping rates but they have not been down for more then 5 min is year now. :)
Where can i find info on Yipes backbone never heard of them before. Not trying tobash your post you do have a good ping rate. What tyoe of line is it if you don't mind me asking. :D
Does ping time really mean anything except distance? Pings are the lowest priority that a network accepts and there are many other factors involved.
You could have a png time of 1 ms to a computer located in the same room as you, yet network performance could be terrible. For instance, you could have that ping of 1 ms and that machine could be running at 100% capacity. How fast do you think your site would load?
You should definately be looking at more than ping time because even with a ping time of 500ms on a fast network would yield better performance than a ping time of 10ms on a slow network

Well Ping is not the most important.
Once we finish the total transfer I will supply you with a bunch of IP addresses to run your own tests on.
www.yipes.com
We are currently have the ability to scale up to 1gb per line. Our total network is only pushing about 15mbps, so we are running alot faster then we need to be.
I think we are at 25mbps, one cool thing with yipes is that if our bandwith charts start showing increases, I can scale up our bandwith at will up to 100mbps before I need to make a phone call.
It is a solid network and we are quite happy. The SLA's are great and performance and speed are amazing.
We will relaunch a new site soon, and incombination with Ensim, think we offer a great service and are still able to maintain a solid 12.95 intro account with the specs listed above...

Yea i know WeinBar but its about all you have to even go on. Our Lines ping slow but like int he 120 but sites load fast and have had not problems. So i know what you are saying is very true..LOL But still when your users do ping one fo your servers the lower is all ways better to them if they don't know any better. Some thing to take in is what type server is on the other end on the line.
JBIZ718 i see you talked about your line but can you let us know what kind of server will be hind that line? :)

We get our servers custom built, but we are looking at running Dell 1550 for the ones that are not custom built.
Right now,
Some of our Virtual servers right now Are Custom Built.
PIII 933mhz
1gb of Ram
18gb scsi.
Thats about it.

Is that on FreeBSD or Redhat just something else i did not see in you post.
I have found custome made server are much better the dell or any others. Thats all we use here. If you are using redhat or freebsd you will be good on that system. We are just getting in to FreeBSD hosting and its been great so far. :)
