I am looking for a cheap hosting company to host YAF (YetAnotherForum)
Really I want to be spending as little as possible. I would also be interested to hear if there are any better alternatives to YAF but it must be a ASP .NET forum software written in C#.
Any recommendations on the hosting?

Better then YAF?
Well lets see, does it's scripting language at all scale?
PHP is hated on but it's actually decent, we find IPB boards perform great and are very manageable sites. Personally we recently aquired a site with a 3.x vb board but their new version 4, just seems sad. IPB's been great for years (I have had IPB sites for years, and managed others servers that host them) honestly most scripts just eat up mem, like Wordpress.
and redfine cheap, less then 5-10 bucks? Cutting budgets in places like hosting can bite later on, beware.

I am not interested in PHP forums. I know quite a few of them and I agree they are very good. However, I am interested in learning ASP .NET and C# so my plan was to run a forum with free software that is written in this and then add my only modifications to it and eventually my own CMS front end to it.
Now I could run that on my own PC for nothing but I also want to run a particular forum so this kills 2 birds with one stone.
As for price I was looking at £40/year tops but preferrably cheaper. That works out at just under $60. I know that is pretty low but money is tight at the moment.

$60/yr should provide you with a low end shared hosting plan with quite a few hosts. However, be sure to check their reviews and do your own research.
Good luck!

One alternative to look at is Instant Forum http://www.instantasp.co.uk/products/instantforum/
MojoPortal, even though it is a CMS, I believe has a forum as well http://www.mojoportal.com/
