A recent Microsoft-sponsored study by researcher IDC concluded that servers based on Microsoft's Windows 2000 were cheaper to own and operate when used for networking, storing and sharing files, printing and security, while Linux servers were cheaper to operate when used for Web hosting.

Notice that it was sponsored by microsoft for the research? Something has to be fishy about the research. :D

There not selling/making anything for Linux. There pricing there software lower to companies that a M$ sales rep feels that company could be moving over to Linux.

Old news.

It means nothing.

Notice the keywords "thinks Meta Group".

Who the heck is Meta Group? Because they predict something doesn't mean it's going to happen!
