Hi guys,

I have 2 eshops built on Joomla VirtueMart - I am looking for the best options for a hosting provider.I am located in Greece and so finding a hosting provider that is located in Europe I believe will significantly enhance the response time for the site. I am currently using Dreamhost shared hosting service and find their performance to be sluggish. As I mentioned before I was hoping to find a host provider with data locations within Europe - I know Rackspace/Cloud Site seem to cover my needs however that is 150$ a month. Are there other options out there that I should be checking out - speed is the primary concern.

Also does anyone have any review on Media Temple's new ve packages - logically speaking would 2GB of dedicated RAM be ample to host 2 busy Joomla eshops?

Any thoughts would be appreciated.
Regards
Nick

Yes it surely will; but make sure you do some tests. Especially with sites with a lot of different components it may make a difference.

I am currently using Dreamhost shared hosting service and find their performance to be sluggish. Like you said yourself you could look for a good sharedhost in europe; or if you need more power you could look at semi-dedicated servers. That way the server part is still fully managed, so you do not need to have any technical knowledge beyond your own applications.

Also does anyone have any review on Media Temple's new ve packages - logically speaking would 2GB of dedicated RAM be ample to host 2 busy Joomla eshops?
AFAIK they are also only in the US; so probably still slower as an european host. Check some reviews here on the board of those companies, or in fact for any company you want to go with.

Any thoughts would be appreciated.
