If a system forked, and you ask someone to reboot it how long does it take to reboot a system? Cause right now i am waiting for over 24+ hours to just get my box up from this dedicated server company. Would like an estimate thank you.

24 hours?
Oh My:angry:
I would NOT be happy.
I hope you get it back soon mate! :)
10-20 minutes to get it rebooted could be accepted as acceptable.. anything greater than 30 minutes to start the reboot process is unacceptable.
granted it may need to do a fsck, or something of that sort.. but those times are just for starting the process ( flipping a switch ).
may be a sign you need to look elsewhere?

I'd recommend to you to find a hosting company with an APC switch option (DV2 for example). With this cool device you can reboot your server by yourself.

Good Luck!

NetDude, You lost your virginity after a girl felt bad when you told her your server hasn't been rebooted for 24+ hours?

Where are you going to meet chicks who are clueful enough to understand what rebooting a server is?

LoL, vertual Chicks. :)
At our place, when a server locks up and dies, we reboot it the second there is a sign of a lock up or a ping out, or the HTTP fails to respond. We check the system if there was errors, and then reboot it. Which by us it is by hand, during the day, we just walk over about 10 Steps, and push a button. I recommend that you have the BIOS's on the boxes to return to the powerstate, so if you expirience a power loss... you dont have to go and push buttons for the next 15 mins. And if there is a crash during the night, we get there and figure out what needs to be done, then do it. So tops, the downtime should only be at most 30 mins.
