I'm here to ask for your experience and feedback on the shared offer by infinology @

http://smartconsumers.infinology.com/

(the one for $6.95 per month with 50GB monthly transfer GBs of storage, etc) or the one for dedicated servers - its all extremely cheap.

Its doesn't seem logical: the company is big (as I see it), quite popular, but how can they make such an offer?? I called in - they confirmed that the offer is actually true...

Do I miss something here about Infinology? How reliable is their company? What's it like to be their client? Do you recommend them or not?

They are rated #1 by CNet (are they the Aplus.net too?), but at the same time while talking on the phone, I couldn't say three words but hearing "Hold Please", "Hold Please"... 4-5 times during that call...

I simply don't get it, and I cannot make my own judgement, so please help me understand them and their offer. Pleeeease.

Best,

It's nearly Christmas. Lots of companies offer good deals right now. But be careful:

1 Month Term:
$12.95/mo.
+ $50 Setup
+ Free Domain
-------
12 Month Term:
$6.95/mo. + $50 Setup + Free Domain

OR

$6.95/mo. +
Free Setup Special
The free setup offer is made exclusively for people who manually transfer their own domain name. We will charge you a $50 setup now, but all you have to do to get it back is: 1. Fill out a short survey along with a refer-a-friend form which will be emailed to you once your account is created and 2. Simply wait 30 days from the date your account was created to send an email to billing@infinology.com to request for the $50. You have 10 days to make the request. The survey helps us understand what your needs are and help others know about our services. Please note that like all ISP/Web Hosting Companies, setup fee are non-refundable if you cancel within 30 days.

Just watch watch out for things like that...;)

Thank you, Pavel,

Although I knew all that, the main reason I asked is the company is rated #1 by cnet, but it doesn't grab MY PERSONAL trust that easily... Its just feels fishy...

Where is the trap? In service itself? I still don't think anyone would be willing to cover what they offer even with their setup fees... its too generous. but again, they seem to be a popular choice,

Why is it that I still have that feeling about if I want to trust them?

Overselling = lots of consumers getting sucked in.... = inability to maintain service levels usually due to exponential growth.

This is the typical equation. Whether it applies here or not, is another issue.

They do not tell potential customers the truth about CNets rating system, instead they lie to them. Did you know that the only criteria for the CNet rating is clicks. Nothing else. They created a misleading page that tells people it is because of quality and service.
http://www.infinology.com/whycnet.htm

For those who don't know, CNet uses only uses clicks to rank most popular. All host advertisers know this there. So the game is to come up with a plan that is cheap and will get clicks, then tell customers you earned top host due to service, and not the truth, advertising dollar.

I have many issues with their advertisng. And big? Not at all. That is a front they put up. I assure you. Ask to stop by their offices and datacenter......

I have about 15 customers with Infinology, and besides the few sporatic complaints on this forum, I have haven't heard any complaints.

You might also want to check Zerosetup. They seem to be a resseller for Infinology, and offer two different plans altogether (i.e. less space and more bandwidth).
