For those who've not noticed the prices increase resell.biz / stargate have announced price increases. Not in any way a surprise :(

Really would love to know what it really costs verisign to provide the domain backend.... :rolleyes:

Earlier this year, VeriSign, the registry for .com and .net domain names, announced that it would be raising its prices on July 1st 2010.

VeriSign will be increasing its cost prices to all registrars as follows:
* .com domain names will be increase by $0.48 from $6.86 to $7.34 per domain year.
* .net domain names will be increasing by $0.42 from $4.98 to $5.40 per domain year.
In addition to the fees above, Resell.biz is also required to pay a fee to ICANN of $0.18 per domain year.

As a result Resell.biz has been forced to increase its prices as follows:

* Tier 1
.com domains will be increasing from $7.79 to $8.27 per domain year .net domains will be increasing from $7.49 to $7.91 per domain year
* Tier 2
.com domains will be increasing from $7.25 to $7.73 per domain year .net domains will be increasing from $6.49 to $6.91 per domain year

The prices above will apply to all new registrations and renewals from 1st July onwards. You can avoid this increase by renewing your domain names before June 30th 2010.

It is a common practice by registries to hike the prices regularly and Verisign has already declared it 6 months ago.

It's pretty much an official increase by Verisign as stated here: https://press.verisign.com/easyir/customrel.do?easyirid=AFC0FF0DB5C560D3&version=live&prid=570292&releasejsp=custom_97, so obviously as Verisign increase the price, all registrars will do so too :)
