I want to make a backup from a Cobalt RAQ4r to another server within the same network.

I've been advised to use the second network interface and connect it with a cross-cable to the other server (not a cobalt).

Does anyone know how to do this?
Do i have to give the second network interface a IP address?
Is there a script i can use or should i use the cobalt scheduled backup utility?

We have used raqbackup.sh on several occassions.

The program includes site info, DNS, and mysql.

We have only seen problems with servers that have >150 sites or large numbers (>2500) of users.

I think these problems can be corrected if you periodically run the meta-verify script to keep the database in order.


The program works very well -- we've modified it to use rsync/ssh instead of ftp.

We have restored numerous raqs and migrated servers with this utility. Typcial restore time is 2.5-5.0 hours depending on how may sites, dns, third party software etc.
