I have two identical sites installed on my server which is located in US. One domain is registered with netfirms and second is registered at tucows reseller.
First domain which is registered at netfirms is very slow in response, if I click on site it waits 1-1.8s to start to load and second one starts to load 0.5s after click.
What are your experiences with netfirms are they so slow for you too? I tried from many different places and dns response is just sluggish, on cold start of browser I got 1-1.8s to start to load, and when dns is cached I got 0.9s to resolve domain.
Is there any good online tool where I could check performance of both sites, why one domain is resolves so slow.
And if slowness is really the case, what do you recommend where should I move my domain, I prefer performance over price.

How about moving that domain to the OpenSRS reseller you are so satisfied with? So you'll know what you get :-)
Reasons for slow DNS resolution can vary: suboptimal route from your client to the dns servers (many hops) or really their dns servers running at the edge of capacity. The cached result should be completly independent from their nameservers, so having slower responses than for any other site seems very odd.
Have you tried using different dns servers with the netfirms domain?

I will probably move, because I noticed that my domain is not isolated case, other sites that are registered at netfirms are slow.
I host dns servers on my server that is why I said from all sites only netfirms domains are slow. I just wanted confirmation that I'm not only one that is having problems with netfirms.
At home I use OpenDNS and I have tried google dns it is still slow.

So where is the dns for the domains in question hosted?
And, are they the same TLD?

Why are you not using the same DNS for the 2 Domains? Or are you using internal DNS from Netfirms? Check this for the performance check: http://www.generationip.com/tools/fullscan.php

I register my domains on weblaunching.net and my friend at netfirms
First domain which is works fast.

From reason unknown to me, for resolving most of the time are picked j and b servers which are the slowest from my server so i guess that is the reason for slowdown.

I host DNS on my own server, so both are basically the same, only difference is that one domain is working really slow, if not in browser cache it stalls for 0.8-1.8s and then it starts to load. I usually wouldn't bother to try and figure this out, but difference between two identical sites are 1-1.5s so google will rate one site lower than other. Sites are the same, only difference is language.

You still have not answered whether the DNS for *those* domains are hosted on *your* DNS servers or elsewhere. And, whether they are the same TLD.

Sorry, they are both hosted on my server with same TLD.
Then, it would not have anything at all to do with netfirms. You should look to your own configuration.
