Hi,

I've just setup a new private company and bank account for a hosting business in Malta, Europe. I need to establish a merchant account and payment gateway. Given that the company is brand new and has no trading history, can anyone recommend a payment processor or merchant account with payment gateway?

Thanks guys :D
Becky.

How about Paypal (http://paypal.com), Moneybookers (http://moneybookers.com), Payson (http://payson.se) (Sweden only it seems) or Alertpay (http://alertpay.com)?

pick one..=)

I admit with n3r0x, start with paypal or one of the others and build up a processing history, once you have been around for 6 or 8 months or even a little longer, apply for a merchant account with one of the many available, you will want to look into 2co.com and Worldpay as well.

Agreed! You also want to make sure you get to a point where your sales will justify the monthly expense associated with a merchant account, which can be anywhere from $10-$60/month.

Thanks for the replies chaps. At a minimum I need a service that will allow the illusion of the transaction taking place on my website such as Paypal pro. Any idea how difficult it is to get a Paypal pro account?

Paypal Pro is not difficult at all. You could also check clickandbuy.com

Hi Becky--You might try MaltaPay.com. They are based in your neck of the woods and have relationships with some of the local banks.

I wasn't aware of this company, so agree to this you can always add paypal in that way you will cover the most.

Why don't you check if there is any online merchant solutions available in Maltese bank or its subsidiary?
