Hey y'all,
I am having a lot of trouble getting a domain from HostOnce.com. I had a customer come to me from there for a better hosting plan. So, when the domain expired, We of course wanted to renew it. So, my customer fills in a support ticket, and he said he wanted to transfer it over to me. They Say that they can't do it, you will have to renew with us and change the NameServer to me. We did not want that, because this is not fair to my customer. Is there another way to do this, just transfer it so I don't have to renew it again with me?

Is your customer still a customer of theirs?
Has the domain name expired?
Did the customer ever submit a trouble ticket and request the domain to reflect their ownership?
Can you tell us the domain name?

Who is the registrar for the domain name in question? If it is the hosting company, then THEY are the owners of the domain name and you will probably have trouble getting the domain from them.

If your customer is the registrant, then they can initiate a transfer FROM the target registration system.. just have your customer approve the transfer and it will eventually go through.

Looks like hostonce.com owns this domain name. Too bad. Since they are the legal registrant, you will probably not be able to get this domain without doing what they say.

You could take them to arbitration and contest the ownership of the domain.. or you could appeal to the registrar they used (assuming you had receipts showing they were supposed to register the domain in YOUR name, etc..)

But other than that.. you're out of luck.

This is borderline fraudulent action on the part of hostonce.com. YOU paid for this domain, and they made THEMSELVES the owner.

That's like buying a car, and then seeing the dealers name as the registered owner.

Good luck!

well... my domain is about to expire and i'll renew it with them... then i'll have a year to argue and fight for it =)

I think they still use DotRegistrar (http://www.dotregistrar.com) for their domains... a few months back, i did a whois on my domain and it told me to go to whois.dotregistrar.com for a full whois... sooooo I guess they're still with them...

I'll try complaining to them later to see if that'll help but i doubt it =(
