View Full Version : dedicatednow, nocster, fastservers, dv2 which one???
universal2001 12-08-2002, 03:23 PM Which one would you pick and WHY?
DV2
Fastservers.net
Nocster
DedicatedNow
Please describe your preference. Tell me why you like it. Is it the network, support, free addons like IPs, cheap serevr ???
Synthetic 12-08-2002, 03:28 PM I'd go with Fastservers.net because I've heard some good things about them. Prices look good as well.
I have only tried Fastservers from your list, and have been completely happy with the service. Support has been great. I have had a server with them going on 4 months now. I am not sure if they have any available servers though.
cactus 12-08-2002, 04:20 PM My vote goes to Nocster:
1)Excellent support and very experienced staff, like Salman, Benji,Paul.. Thank you if you are reading this.
2)Good and reliable bandwidth carrier(s) and adding more.. WoW!
3)Good add-ons for future expansion.
4)Reasonable prices for server/add-ons.
5)Ample bandwidth(300GB) for server usage.
Tazzman 12-08-2002, 04:20 PM Only have experience with DV2 from that list.
Good support, excellent uptime, friendly staff
Only reason I'm pulling out is because some of my users always end up going over Cogent, which is extremely slow for them. I have been told they are turning Cogent down mid-Januari, but I don't want to wait that long...
mainarea 12-08-2002, 05:28 PM Nocster - bandwidth is great, servers are awesome, sales and support are always there, addon prices were just reduced... Overall great service.
diederik 12-08-2002, 05:32 PM fastservers.net
Great knowledge, good network, speedy replies to support tickets 24/7 , 365 a year.
No experiences with the other companies mentioned, but I don't think those will be a bad choice as well :)
Good luck!
BurtonHost 12-08-2002, 05:36 PM With DV2 / eServers - good network, friendly helpful staff and good prices for what you get. Get my thumbs up there..

ONLY it is your lucky day. It used to take them 3 weeks just to redo the filesystem they screw up in the first place.
BTW, i would say Darren is good. Wonder if he still with them.
Techark 12-08-2002, 09:41 PM Depends on what you need it for.
Nocster addons and IP blocks too expensive to be of any use to me.
DV2, I have 5 servers there now, service and attitudes are top notch. Little unhappy with network preformance the last month but they claim to be fixing that. Besides you have servers there already so you know abou them.
DedciatedNow network is top notch, hardware seems good, have not really used support yet, I will be getting another server or 2 from there in a week or so.
Fastservers have always been sold out when I have tried to buy but heard nothing but good about them.

I agree.
SoftWareRevue 12-08-2002, 10:15 PM We've had servers with Nocster since they first launched. I would just echo the observations of most of the others that stated they are quite satisfied. Because we are! I have absolutely no reservations recommending Nocster for your needs. I have no experience with the others on your list though.
FastServers.net: We use HE for colo like them. I know that HE is great and heard good thing about fastservers support.
Dv2: support is good, network has not been excellent recently specially after adding their verio and william lines.
Dedicated Now: Their support is good but Dv2 is better support wise. But their network (NAC) is more stable.
phantasywork 12-08-2002, 11:32 PM Nocster -10thumbs down ,glad were rid of them !!!
Dedicated now - have several servers, nothing but prasie , for speed, support and value for the money , ordering 2 more next week to add to the fleet of servers.
freakysid 12-09-2002, 12:43 AM Universal2001 - you are/were a pwebtech customer - is that correct? Then you should already have a fair opinion on dedicatednow as it is effectively pwebtech on dcjn and minus telephone support.
I don't recommend Nocster, either.
My server was not configured propely, and asked re-setup.
But after waiting for ten days and sending a lot of emails, nothing was done.
So I cancelled the server. I was so disappointed at their support.
That was waste of time and money.
I have servers at eServers. They are good.
There was some network problem, but for last 10 days DV2 has best network status from my monitoring server at my home among Fastervers, DV2, and Nocster.
Prince 12-11-2002, 11:35 AM I am really surprised to see so many people complain, they have been great for me.
I did find that the best way to get support was via AIM, rather than support tickets.
I highly recommend them.
