Check the log files at the time when you are unable to connect to Mysql. Maybe some process is causing mysql to shut down.

Yeah I'm getting this issue as well since at least 5-14 whenever I search the forums, whether I'm logged in or not. Using Firefox 3.6.3 if that means anything. Night or day. Takes awhile to load and then it just says database error stuff.
