Why dont you post the problems you are having here, alot of us will try to help you and wont charge you a thing. Raq's are pretty easy to use so I cant imagine what problems you might be having, dns is a pain though.

I would suggest you learn all the stuff in the process for your self. You don't want to depend on anyone.

These guys might be what you're looking for: http://server.mermaidconsulting.com/

Cobalt also does paid support for their servers.

You'd also do yourself a lot of good to check out the Cobat mailing list archives at http://list.cobalt.com/cgi-bin/htsearch

Thanks all of you ...

I think its better to learn everything .... but as I am hosting about 70 sites and DNS of RAQ has made me feel like totally ignorant about hosting may be because my last virtual server provider did everything himself abt DNS. Now please read carefully and solve my prob.

I signed up with rackshack and got 8 ips say (0.0.0.1-8)

my main site is : abc.com ip : 0.0.0.1
my another site: xyz.com

I registered na.xyz.com with ip 0.0.0.1

I dont think it make any differrence to replace ns1 with other alphabets

I changed the Primary name servers of xyz.com to na.xyz.com and in control panel ...> DNS...>parametrers I added record A, PTR, and MX for xyz.com. I have given the ip 0.0.0.1 in all these feilds.

GOOD! the site is working and its coming up. See I have not mentioned na.xyz.com anywhere in RaQ.....

But with another domain "123.com" ... I changed its nameservers to na.xyz.com .... while creating the virtual site 123.com I gave the IP 0.0.0.1 ... I filled the dns entries just like in case of xyz.com ... i.e. with 0.0.0.1 .... but the site is NOT COMING UP.

I have been trying for 5 days ... consulted 500 manuals ... some say that I have to add the ip as a virtual site ... some say that i have to define na.xyz.com at some place in RaQ .... huh :( ...

Can't i just ask my client to change their nameservers to na.xyz.com and then create a virtual site on my server, put the dns entries and ... finish ..?

Please suggest a solution ... step by step ... I would be ever gratefull to all you people

Keep in mind that xyz.com is working with same configuration ... why not 123.com and other sites?

Well that's the way it's supposed to work. Here's a couple of links that may help you get DNS working properly:
http://pkg.nl.cobalt.com/howto/cobalt_dns_howto.html
http://www.raqresources.com/dns.htm

Why don't you go buy a linux book? I have the Redhat Linux 7.0 Professional Server Edition Reference Book and it really helps. Spend 30 bucks for the book and learn yourself.:o

I am glad I'm not one of your 70 customers.

There ought to be some kind of BBB (Better Business Bureau) to protect customers from such ignorant business people.

How can you run a hosting service for 70 customers and not know the answers to these very basic questions?

Nobody knows all of the answers, but your qustions really are something you ought to know before venturing into something like this.

madsere, your points are true, but alas the days of guilds and craftmanship and apprenticeships are past. Who is going to teach you these things unless you get out there and do it yourself? Sure many people will have the opportunity to learn and gain meaningful exprience in their job, but others do it by jumping into the deep end. Whether such an approach is the best, you will never stop the entrepreneurally spirited from having a go!

Congratulations that you are not my customer!

Just to inform you people that I did everything right!

The problem was on the end of rackshack who chaged my server on another due to shortage of ips in that series and forgot to chg the ip in config !

thanks for help:>
