Alright, yes i've read all the threads concerning it and i'm fully aware of the pros and cons associated with attempting it. Let me explain my position. For the last 2 years, i've been trying to figure out how to properly start a web hosting business from home, move on to bigger and better at some point, but how to make it work starting small, from home. For that time, i've picked up several friend clients and been running free hosting for them off of a decent dual celeron 500 machine with win2k server and such running on it; speed: 1.5/256 dsl. For the 5 clients so far, it's been working great and i have decided to go for it. Here's what i've proposed and gotten going in the works. Dual celeron machine at one location (my partner's house) on 1.5/1.5 business sdsl with 2 static ips, p2 450 backup server on that line at that location also. At a second location down the road (my place), i put a celeron 1.1 machine and a p3 733 backup on a business cable 3.5/384 line with 5 static ip's. This will allow for i guess you would say "redundancy" (really not the right word) across two different companies networks, and some load balancing, being able to divide our list of 10 accumulated clients between the two different lines. Also, we've got a generator at my place and two 1250 backups at the other place. Here is my problem: on the cable line at my place, i've got the 5 static ip's and have to figure out how to route them. I want the primary server to have one, the backup to have one, my workstation to have one and then split the 4th to a cable/dsl router to provide my laptop and roommates computers (low bandwidth stuff) using only one IP, and leaving the 5th free. Any ideas on how to do this? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
