View Full Version : Simplenet or Dixiesys?
Cecco 12-07-2002, 09:46 AM I'm moving my site to an new host shortly, I've read many reviews here in this forum and it's tough when you have quite a few to chose from.
So I've cut it down to two hosts, Simplenet hosting and Dixiesys, they both seem to suit my needs.
Which one of these two would you reccomend?
Thanks
jamesyap 12-07-2002, 10:01 AM Simplenet has been bought by Yahoo!!! Simplenet use to be very very popular few years ago. They provide some kind of 'unlimited' hosting that time. But NOW - using simplenet equal to using yahoo web hosting. (Do you like Yahoo?) I just don't think yahoo hosting is that good. They are lack of features. They always talk about security & security and disable a lot of features. So you know which one I am suggesting? :)
Cecco 12-07-2002, 10:09 AM Is Simplenet.com the same as Simplenethosting.com?
If I browse to simplenet.com it takes me to yahoo but I'm talking about Simplenethosting (http://www.simplenethosting.com) .
ho247 12-07-2002, 10:17 AM Is Simplenet.com the same as Simplenethosting.com?No, these are two different companies.
Back to your original question, I personally can't recommend either since I've not used either company for web hosting needs. SimpleNet Hosting has really good servers though, fast and reliable located in the NAC data center where connections speeds are extremely fast. Looking at the prices that Dixiesys charges, they must cram a lot of sites on to one server, whereas I know that SimpleNet Hosting don't. They constantly keep an eye on their servers to ensure that they are running at optimal speed and never have high load averages... usually about 50% utilised on servers that no longer have new clients added to it.

ThePrimeHost 12-07-2002, 10:55 AM Do a search for Dixisys. I think you'll be pleasantly surprised.

I am looking to move from Dixie, after 3 months of slow servers I can't take the broken promises any longer.
from my experience try another host
CareBear 12-07-2002, 02:28 PM from my experience try another hostyes you had a bad experience and yes you had reason to be upset but in your post I've also seen about a dozen people saying they're happy being hosted by Dixie and Gary has done whatever he can to help you with your problem and I just noticed he's even going to put up another Plesk server which is what you wanted all along so I don't see why you need to continue bashing them really.
To Cecco: the thread I'm referring to is http://www.webhostingtalk.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=94226 you might want to read through it, it is fairly long though and then decide for yourself.

He's not posting about other people's experience, he's posting about his own. Many have posted that they are happy, but that really isn't relevant to his opinion and experience. Posting one's opinon about their experience isn't bashing. If he had a great experience and posted that this person should sign up, would that be bashing as well? Let's refrain from discussing the posts and stick to the thread topic please.
Relyc 12-07-2002, 02:54 PM I don't have any experience with either of them, but from what's been posted here, if you do choose dixiesys, make sure you are not put on server 12.
Dajo77 12-07-2002, 03:11 PM Right now my site's hosted with SimpleNetHosting. Though I have only been with them a few weeks, I havn't had any problems what so ever.

"Which one of these two would you reccomend?"
Cecco asked a question and I gave him my opinion.
I have had a bad experience with Dixie, do you want me to lie so you would feel better?
"put up another Plesk server which is what you wanted all along"
the only thing I have wanted was speed and I have waited 3 months, I have been very patient.
I really don't see how your attack on me has anything to do with the topic of this thread. Tell Cecco about your experience at Dixie not me.
Finalz 12-08-2002, 02:03 AM well, as Chicken has mentioned, let's not carry this too far away from the topic. :) Chillz...
Carboran 12-08-2002, 02:10 AM I have been with Dixiesys for three months and I haven't had any problems with the. There was only one prolonged downtime, but it was scheduled.
RH Robert 12-08-2002, 02:30 AM Definitely Dixiesys, I have had an account there for almost a year now, that I use to post server stats for my other servers that are on different networks, so my clients can check the status of thier servers if they have a problem. Doesn't help to have your stats on the same networks as the servers you are monitoring! I have had nothing but pleasant experiences with them. I don't think I have ever had to use thier support, which makes my smile all that much bigger....
mtorres 12-08-2002, 01:58 PM :) I am a dixie customer. I have been very happy with the speed of servers and friendly and fast support.
