Is advertising via google adwords a good idea? Does it really work well?
Depending on your advertising budget it can work very well or fail miserably.

Generally with an AdWords campaign for maximum effectiveness you'll want to run it for at least a couple of months in my experiences... It can get very expensive very fast especially for hosting since there are hundreds of thousands of hosts :)

With Google AdWords you can expect to loose allot of money before you see a return. What you will need to do is bid for very specific keywords that suit your niche. The most important thing to do is monitor how your selected keywords are performing.

In my opinion there are many better/cheaper ways to promote your site than using Google AdWords.

It will certainly depend upon your advertising budget. If you that your ads is displayed with highly searched keywords then you need to pay higher CPC.

Hiring a PPC expert can get you some good results..
