Experiences are welcome :)

Hello janderfox,

You may get some info from this thread:

1. Word of mouth is 1 of the way,
2. Submit or register your site with web hosting directories and search engines,
3. Draft out your marketing plans carefully
4. Do some promotions

thats what other ppl told me, and indeed that is very true

It's tough finding good, inexpensive advertising.

One you may want to investigate is Google's Adwords program. A relatively inexpensive way to promote your site.

Google (http://www.google.com)

There is a marketing company that can handle online advertising. Take a look at what they have to offer.

I heard that they are great at promoting businesses esp. online.

You may submit your website here for a small charges:
I Need Hits (http://www.ineedhits.com)
submit to 300+ search engine start from $2.50

Microsoft Bcentral (http://www.bcentral.com)
submit to 400+ search engine, get 5000 impressions of your banner at linkexchange site, mailing list tools for 1000 e-mails, check your web site keyword, position at seacr engine and much more at $19.95 per month.

** one thing which must consider is although you have submit your site to 400+ search engine, but that doesn't guarantee that your site can be listed at a good position among the search results.

Use advinte and you will be broke within months.
First of all putting your ads in networked sites for $19 per 1000 impressions is ridiculous. $19 for 1000 ad
impressions? If the network is big, a million impressions can fly by real quick pending on how large network sites.
2nd, people usually ignore banners when they view webpages, unless you have something special to
attract them. Online advertisemnets are a inefficient way to promote a webhosting business IMHO.
You'd be better of putting a ad on www.findsp.com or www.tophosts.com or perhaps a computer magazine.

Paying for advertising can give you name exposure and it never guarantees sales, or even a minor portion of hits. Only strategic ad placement in niche markets really allows greater benefit when cash is the bottom line in what can be spent. Targeted advertising can be useful, although offering a generic product into the specific area must have something of interest that makes what you offer more appealing than others offering the same services.

Promote yourself on sites that you can be listed for free, considering how many personal sites are out there that are mini portals, apart from the major search engines. Word of mouth though, is the most important seeing that anybody can attain a presence, with good or bad pr making all the difference.
