Hello

Is the automatic script installer called "Fantastico" part of CPanel and do most hosts have it or just a few?. Also, does it only install PHP scripts?.

I'd say a bunch have it, not most though. Personally, I see no need for the programs it can install, but to some it is great. I believe it only installs PHP scripts, but CPanel has some basic auto-install CGI scripts, as well as PHPBB.

Fantastico is not included in the cPanel package. Companies must purchase the product individually.

It installs PHP and PHP+MySQL programs. As Synthetic said, it does not come with cpanel, it is an addition to cpanel that hosts must buy.

In my case, I integrated it into the cpanel, so it looks just like any cpaenl item. :)

Well I will put my 2 cents in about it , I find only 1-2% of our customers use it and found it too be a big waste of money having it .

It hasn't increased bussiness if that's what some people are looking for in feedback , it's really something that won't make a diffrence.

I disagree (at least for us).. $70.00 for the first server is well worth it. If you have more servers, the price drops successively. It's integrated into one of our skins and we upsell clients into it.... $10 one time fee for the skin. We have enough take us up on it that it makes it a profitable addon. Of course, if you know how to install a script, you wouldn't upgrade. Most of the people that upgrade are not familiar with php and mysql and want an easy way to install popular scripts. And they love it.

if you have 10 or more then you dont have to pay anything more or is it still 10$/server ?

There's also a new feature in cpanel/whm that just hit the 'edge' release - which means it'll work its way down to stable soon. It currently allows for these three scripts to be installed ala fantastico:
1)PHP Nuke
2) osCommerce
3) Invision BB

And it looks like they're going to be adding on to that list... So I think fantastico is going to be upgraded right out of the market on this one...
