View Full Version : EZPZ Website Ripped
Dan_EZPZ 04-27-2010, 09:10 AM Hey folks,
It was recently bought to my attention that the domain 3uhosting.com had ripped our website.
We sent DMCAs to them and their ISP but no action has been taken so it seems we're just stuck.
Recently I notice they're using a blue superhero image on the right of their site. I'm sure I've seen this before on another hosting companies site but I can't put my finger on it.
Am I imagining this or does it seem familiar to anyone else?
It's a shame to see some people have absolutely no creativity and just resort to stealing other peoples work. If you have any ideas on how I can get them taken down it'd be appreciated too.

DDOs ;)
Recently had the same from ExtaHost and Hostsos but thought what the heck and kept it quiet - a simple DMCA did the trick, I suppose time is the key here.
Dan_EZPZ 04-27-2010, 09:19 AM Unfortunately they've had the DMCA about a month so it seems like they're ignoring it.
Sparrow-Sean 04-27-2010, 09:22 AM True, definitely being hosted in Malaysia.
I cannot see why they changed to your design, was their previous one not good enough?

I sent 2 recently to both above webhosts and they were removed in smashing time, one was hosted in China and the other the Netherlands, I guess you really cannot get through to those who have hollow heads.
Try their Facebook?

Dan_EZPZ 04-27-2010, 09:26 AM I'd imagine that was another ripped design which they were forced to take down.
I suppose the only way it to keep hassling them, I notice they have a twitter too.
It's still bugging me as to where that superhero graphic is from though :)
Sparrow-Sean 04-27-2010, 09:29 AM Dan,
They have live chat on their forum, I did ask them and they referred me to e-mail:
management@3uhosting.com
Perhaps give that a shot?
Jay August 04-27-2010, 09:37 AM I HATE RIPPERS. They are always ruining my day. Hopefully it gets sorted soon.
Dan_EZPZ 04-27-2010, 09:40 AM Indeed, that was the address the original email and the DMCA was sent to and ignored. They'll probably just ignore it again but I'll resend it.
The-Pixel 04-27-2010, 09:44 AM I thought it was interesting at the bottom of 3uhosting.com website it says 'Re-Design by iSaraStudio'.
husam20 04-27-2010, 10:02 AM Another ripped template by netkl.com.
NetKL.com has ripped Pacifichost.com

How do you know it was ripped by NetKL.com? Did I miss something in this thread?
husam20 04-27-2010, 10:16 AM i'm one of pacifichost customer. While surfing on the net. found Netkl.com site and seem the design look familiar. So, i made some comparison with netkl and pacifichost.
i'm not sure whether it's true or not. you may compare it's you self.

On a side note netkl should invest in a SSL Cert for their order process.
viaDamo 04-27-2010, 11:55 AM Cheekily they have a link to your cPanel demo site on their shared hosting page http://3uhosting.com/shared.html

bojomojo 04-27-2010, 12:30 PM The illustration character is ripped from digitwebhost.com - they are using the same title too.. Maybe its the same owner I do not know
ariss 04-27-2010, 01:34 PM I thought it was interesting at the bottom of 3uhosting.com website it says 'Re-Design by iSaraStudio'.
I noticed that right away... not exactly funny, but someone is proud of their work. Certainly hope that other people do not think that by making a 're-designed' statement up-front that this could be an ethical, and viable business model for any design company. We just don't need any more growth in this type of market.

Excellent. You don't comply with distance selling regulations. Your turn!

It's unlikely to be the same owner but thanks - I knew I had seen it somewhere before and hadn't imagined it.

In all honesty that's fine - as long as the server's not constantly swapping because it's out of ram. A server with around 50% of it's ram cached using 10% swap is perfectly fine.
You can adjust how likely the kernel is to swap unused/seldom used pages out of RAM (where they're wasting high speed RAM) into swap... It's a good thing imho.
You should probably google "swappiness" before trying to attack a provider on a statistic which you seem to have a very shallow understanding of.

As Mike said is correct there is nothing wrong with a machine having some swap usage. There is another case as well maybe the machine gets memory exhausted once maybe some users does something causes a lot of ram usage and the machine swaps. Well it's not going to free all that swap out when there is memory available again it'll be kept there as "used".
I mean we have machines with 12GB ram and we have a bit of swap even with 644mb free of memory and if you count buffers/cache it's 6gb or so free. Only 3% in our case but still just an example of how looking at the numbers doesn't mean much without the rest of the story.
sdxgroup 04-27-2010, 02:26 PM Looks like the cPanel demo link is now disabled

That is an interesting observation and one I never considered.
Looks like the cPanel demo link is now disabled
Then it appears someone in their 'management' staff is reading the thread.

I wasn't attacking any provider.

At thread.
Dan_EZPZ 04-27-2010, 03:15 PM Lets not go any further into that else it'll just get the thread locked.
I'm hoping that seeing as they managed to remove the cPanel demo so quickly they will change their design too.
MikeDVB 04-27-2010, 03:20 PM I'm hoping that seeing as they managed to remove the cPanel demo so quickly they will change their design too.
Proooooobably not... But you can always look and see if they are hotlinking anything else and change it on your server so that it displays something strange on their end :)
If they're pulling a JS file it's always fun to check for the referrer and then redirect them to something else that does a pop-up saying something ... interesting :)

That'd just result in another DMCA notice and likely it'd probably be ignored just like Dan's DMCA.

I tend to agree but the more the ISP or hosting company receive the more they might take notice but then again they might not
