I am looking to buy a windows vps with no software on it to manage it, should i get dnsmadeeasy.com services or setup my own dns on it? Or should i use namecheaps dns for my domains? My site is going to have alot of traffic. So i dont want downtime, but what would be the point of getting dnsmadeeasy or just using your hosts or domains? I dont get the whole DNS thing/

I'm sure that is recommended. But what your provider say to you? What do they recommend?
What do you call a lot of traffic? Under most circumstances, your registrar's dns would be just fine. Depending on the registrar :)

i recommend freedns.afraid.org
do yourself a fav and use 3rd party dns. you'll thank me later should you run into problems with your host.
DNSMadeEasy is great for redundancy. The panel isn't the prettiest but the service is above none. I've also used afraid.org and wasn't too fond of it...

I used to use the NameCheap bundled dns services, but I was having problems (i.e. outages) every 2-3 months. I switched to DNSMadeEasy at some time. As the friend above me said, the control panel is weird but the service is amazing!

How many hits/day?
Remember that not every hit means a DNS query, because they are cached on nameservers that are queried before.
I'd say stick with namecheap and use an uptime monitoring service. If you see it goes down, buy a premium one.
