I have a question pertaining to managing add-ons for clients in WHM panel. Lets say you are a reseller and have a client who signs up for a hosting package that has a certain number of mailboxes. The client then wants to add additional mailboxes without changing any other features or options. The only way I can see of doing this is to add an additional package with just the features (in this case the number of mailboxes) that the client wants. Over time this can create quite a mess by adding new packages just for updates…

I know in the WHM docs it shows that WHM has the ability to modify an account to upgrade the client with additional features. But, the company I am purchasing hosting from for my resellers package says this is not available to the reseller. Am I missing something? How do you handle this?

This is a true and fair reason. Because in order to give you the facility to modify an account, you would then also have the ability to circumvent any other implied restrictions such as giving shell access, dedicated ips, etc. So the answer is for you to create a different account (a unique one if need be).

Yes, it has the potential to get messy but you have to work with what you have. Ask your provider to submit a feature request to the Cpanel developers.

Yes it can become very messy. The more times you sell add-ons, the more packages you will have. The Cpanel developers missed the boat on this one… Maybe someday they will add the ability to allow resellers to make such changes… :(

Yes, that definately needs an overhaul. There is no reason for all that stuff to be tied together.

We need a few more checkboxes in the reseller center! :D

if i am not wrong, plesk reseller panel allows u to "add-on" or "upgrade"
