Hi everyone,

I need a new logo made up in a variety of sizes in about a week. Since I don't really know any designers, I thought I'd give anyone who is interested a chance to come up with the logo. Your submission does not have to be grade A production level quality but it does at least have to convey your idea across. If I decide to use your logo, I'll pay you $50 or a year of free hosting*. I've had some questions about where the logo is to be used an what theme the website is. I haven't totally decided on a theme yet, but I am favoring this one at the moment:

I want to thank everyone who has taken time out of their busy schedule and done up logos already. Here are my thoughts on the ones presented to me so far.

DLevit : I'm not sure if it was intentional or not, but you misspelled Netwisp as Netwishp... Its simple and sharp though but I am hoping for a little more flair and color.

Yowen : Yours is interesting, and the logo will work well with the modernbill and the perldesk sections after its been colored. I don't know if its large enough for the website homepage though.

Alcaglar : The spiral just isn't working for me. Sorry.

Anyway, maybe if I describe why I picked netwisp that might help with the creative juices... I came across Netwisp and it first appealed to me because it had Net and ISP in it but I also liked the WISP part which made me think of the will o'wisp. So I liked a name that could have different meanings depending on how you looked at it.

Now a short quotation of what a will o' wisp is

"The Will o’Wisp, or will-o’-the-wisp, is actually a natural phenomenon given this supernatural name by British folklore. They are also called "elf light," "fox fire," or even "ignus fatuus," which is Latin for "foolish fire." These wisps take the form of eerie blue glows seen around marshes and swamps."

And the best version of a wisp image I found on google is:

So I would think given the lore of wisps that there might be some inspiration there to use. Wisps are magical creatures after all so that should give lots of opprotunitiesj you don't normally have in a logo design. Plus they glow and/or burn as well., Maybe there are wisps travelling in fiber optics or something else that would look cool.

I hope maybe this might help give some ideas for some interesting logos to contribute to the contest. Once again, thanks for your efforts! Feel free to contact me if you have any other questions or ideas!

What I mean by the flair and color is the one that synax did for example. Or use the Dot5 logo in the WHT ad space above. Something like that...

I must have picked a bad name for the company. ;) Everyone keeps misspelling it. Its NETWISP. Not Netwhisp =) Also, as I replied to someone else, I don't think the wave/spiral designs are what I'm looking for in the logo. Thank you for taking the time to do 3 logos though!

I am still here and I apologize for the delay in communicating with you all. As consul did correctly guess, I have been very busy trying to get everything ready in time and I have not been able to respond to you all as quickly as you all deserve to be.

To bring everyone up to speed, I have not yet picked a logo, as I am waiting for submissions from a couple people who have contacted me via PM/email. I have also liked the last three submissions done (The logos by Synax, wello, and RajanUrs). Rest assured, I will use a logo submitted in this contest.

Since everyone has been so helpful in comitting their time and resources for this contest, I would like to offer anyone who has submitted a logo a year's worth of free hosting of 50 megs/3 GB transfer if they so desire. These accounts can be either Ensim or cPanel based (cPanel accounts are limited however). If you would like to get one of these accounts, feel free to contact me.

Also, I will give out 5 more of these accounts to any newly submitted logos that are as good as the eight people who have done submissions so far. So if you haven't submitted yet, this might offer some incentive to do so.

Again, feel free to contact me if you have any questions. I will let everyone know as soon as I've picked a logo! Thanks for all your help so far!

I like wello #2, wello #4, vic #1 (#2 since it looks just like #1), and vic #4. (wello #3 just isn't my style, wello #5 is interesting but the N is too much... I like the font in vic #3, but I liked the color of the balls to be different).

I don't plan on taking much longer to decide... Hopefully by Friday at the latest (since I need to get everything up and running!). It really depends on when I get the last submissions from the people who have contacted me in PM/email.

Its a very slight difference. The "dot" for the i is the font dot and orange in #1; and a blue "wisp" in #2.

Okay, the moment everyone has been waiting for....

After a long, thoughtful consideration of all the logos, I have decided to go with defiantpc's submissions. The other seven final logos I was considering were (in no particular order):

yowen's first logo
synax's second logo without the glow
ranjanurs logo
vec's second and 4th logo
wello's 2nd and 5th logo

You all did such great work, expecially those who did seven or eight, and it was a hard decision to have to pick one because that means the rest of you wouldn't be rewarded for the effort you put into this contest. Which is why I made the offer of a year's free 50 MB/3 GB monthly web hosting (cPanel or Ensim) to anyone who entered into the contest. If you are interested in this, please let me know.
