Hi, I am looking for companies in the Orange County/Los Angeles area to locate servers at. I have checked out Verio and Level 3....and well they just cost to damn much for what you get. If anyone knows any others, and they dont need to be tier1, just good :) if you got prices even better.
Thanks In Advance

Well, their rack space prices are decent (about what I've seen elsewhere), and their bandwidth prices, while a little higher than I'd like, aren't out of the ballpark. However, I have a few problems with this company (well, I have a few problems with this company's web site, at least):
1) As near as I can tell, they don't post an e-mail address anywhere on their site. If they do, it's not very obvious where.
2) They don't post a mailing address anywhere on their site (or, as with the e-mail, it's not obvious where that's posted).
3) The only phone number they post is toll-free - and while this is great for us U.S. folks, people from outside the U.S. aren't going to be able to call them on that line. They should post their direct line.
4) They charge extra to be hooked into their generator. A monthly charge. Per power supply in your cabinet. All I can say to that is, "what?"
5) A $1000 setup fee for a cabinet is high. Very high. I could *buy* a cabinet and have it shipped to them for that price.
6) They aren't giving away hardly any traffic with their dedicated servers. I mean, 10 GB on a $1000 a month server is laughable. Many hosts give more than that on a $20 a month virtual hosting account! And they're advertising their dedicated servers as "managed" servers - but as near as I can see they aren't doing any managing at all other than the hardware (which is what *any* dedicated server provider covers). If they're advertising (and have the price of) a "managed" service then they should be doing a lot more than they list there.
7) There's a *lot* of stuff they should be listing on this web site they're not. Like, what is the cost for extra traffic on a dedicated server - it says it's available, but doesn't list the cost. What is the cost of remote hands services - again, says its available, but no price. What are their service policies? They don't seem to list them on the site. What about service level agreements? IP address allocation information (how many do you get with each server - it doesn't say). There's a lot of stuff not on here that really should be.
I, like Dilhole, would be very interested in finding a datacenter in the Los Angeles area (or even in the Las Vegas area), but I just don't like the look of these folks. They're not giving out enough information to make an informed decision. I won't say that I think they're a fly-by-night, because I have no proof of that, but judging from their web site they certainly have not instilled confidence in their services. Maybe it's just me. If anyone has any real-world experience with them, I'd like to hear it.

If you don't mind going to San Diego, I'm colocating w/ CCC-Communications. I've had no problems with them at all. Their web page isn't very informative, so you'll probably have to give them a call to get the information that you want.
