Hey

I'm considering completly reformatting my computer, and dual booting it with Redhat Linux, and Windows XP.

Problem is.. I don't know how to. Can anyone teach me how to do this? Maybe in a reply? Or you can contact me here:

Trying to do this, because the webhosting business I've been working with has always been in windowz servers, and we're experimenting with Linux, and I don't know what it is. So, if you can help, please do. Thanks.

Was the link I posted in your last post not helpful?

unless you partition or get another hard drive (or maybe you have 2 now). It would be imposible linux and windows run offof two different file systems. I foronewould just pick up another lame machine and turn it into a linux box

my system at home i have two drives and XP and Redhat on it, its not to hard if you have the specific ways of doing it, but you do need two hard drives or one hardrive split

To install on a Second harddrive is easy and requires little knowledge to do it. As your installing on another device like /dev/hdd or /dev/hda

With one hardrive, you need to use a program like Partition Magic to resize your drive, and create another logical drive and install redhat there. Thats just a brief summary :)

I was under the impression you could install RedHat on the same partition and same filesystem as Windows? No way I'd attempy it but I thought you could do it.

The requestor said he was already interding to reformat his harddrive so Partition Magic is not required. FDisk will do the job or even (I've never played with XP) the Windows installer?

cant install linux on a fat or fat32/ntfs partition, has to have its own partition

and yea as you install XP you can change your drive formats and partitions around... i think.. i never really paid attention to it, if not just fdisk it and install and on the installer just select leave partition as it or something
